I'm pretty sure most people use the frontlight on a frontlit reader. Whether always or occasionally, that's a different question.

I always keep the light on, as I can't stand a grey screen. And I don't read in direct sunlight, which would be the the only situation not needing the light at all. IMHO, of course.

OTOH I don't read in the dark either, which is why I'm not as fussy about the light quality as some other people.

It's a FRONT light, not a backlight, an important distinction that is missed/misunderstood with surprising frequency, it seems. And 50-70% doesn't seem to me be a range that is in the middle. I'd consider 70% to be very high indeed, twice as high as I ever take my frontlight

I apologise, I just used the term backlight without thinking. Of course the new way is a frontlight.

I think my usual reading situation is fairly low light, hence the higher figures, but also I bet different devices have different strength lights too, so just adjust it until it looks like a regular piece of paper or a page from a book in good lighting.

I went ahead and ordered the Libra 2. It'll arrive in January from Amazon prime. So I shall see for myself if I will like it.

A few days ago I received KL2. First impressions: The screen is very good, the backlighting is even. Can't get used to the buttons. They are inconvenient for me. The sharp edge of the screen interferes. My wife has Kobo Libra H2O, the buttons are more convenient there. I took it on Amazon, I have time to think.

If I have enough light, I turn the front light off. I don't care if the background is whitish. I just care that there is enough light to comfortably read.

I use 4% for the front light. So 35% would be about 8x more then what I use.

The only way is front lit as the light can't come up from the back.

Well done. I bought a Libra 2 and I do like it. Nice screen. Plus, I like the shape.

If I was going to use the buttons, they would be in a good place. Also, there ios nothing sharp at all on the Libra 2.

Same here again. This is exactly how I prefer it.

That’s my issue too. I do use the light. I actually read all my ereaders in daylight on at least 80% brightness, I like a white screen. The only e-readers I have now with an uneven light are my Forma and Libra H20. My Voyage, Oasis and Libra 2 are perfect.

8GB of storage (as i've said) certainly isn't enough for me, but i'd prefer the external micro SD card slot making a comeback in 2022 rather than the 32GB micro SD card glued inside the ereader

I missed this post before, but I totally agree. I felt all giddy putting 128gb in my tablet. I should be able to do this with my e-readers. I imagine these things may make a comeback if they see a demand for it.

I found a 32G Libra 2 in my Xmas stocking this morning, courtesy of my lovely husband. The screen is absolutely top notch and so far as I can see the lighting is even. It loads up and processes far faster than my H2O2. And while I know it's only a small increase in display size, I actually find that increase noticeable and welcome.
