Libra 2 Kobo Libra 2 first impressions

Put some of that money towards more eBooks. I've pout some of my holiday money towards movies. I've been finding some really good specials on 4k Blu-ray. So my collection has gotten larger.

Personally I would not like to have a smaller e-reader than 8". I am probably coloured by the fact that my first ever e-reader was the 8" Aura One.

The Aura One is 7.8". But, the .2" difference is not going to be noticeable.

Ahh. Thanks! Just like you said I did not notice.

When borrowing a collegues Libra H20 during a conference I however directly noticed, and felt that 7" is way too cramped for my taste. An immediate clear difference in user experience towards the negative for me.

Agree about good things with saving money on hardware and instead buying more content. I was first tempted to get a Sage beacuse of the new pen function, but skipped due to worse weight and poorer battery life (if it had been the same weight and battery life as my Forma I would have jumped).

I still have only one (1) e-reader, but have focused on buying and borrowing more new books. Now I only need to find time and give priority to work on my backlog.

I already have more books than I could read in several lifetimes, so I decided to splurge on new ereaders. As to movies, I don't buy physical media anymore. I've never been big on watching movies anyhow, and what little I watch I can get from streaming services.

Yeah, the weight of the Sage is slightly disappointing and at first I thought like you that I'll skip these new devices. I'm glad I changed my mind, however. I really like them, more than I expected I would, and I've gotten used to the weight.

To be honest that is what is making me get the "buy a new gadget" curiosity this season. I have a monthly budget for books and recently bought very long huge ones that will keep me occupied (stephen king books) among my latest. I do think if I end up buying one, it would be the Libra 2. I just am in no deadline to decide.

i notice you already have the Kobo Libra H2O. if you want the extra storage or to listen to Kobo Audiobooks then perhaps it's worth it. if not then why bother.

The screen on the Libra 2 is significantly better than on the Libra H2O. That goes for both the contrast and the frontlight.

If the Glowlight 4 had everything it has and was waterproof, that would have pushed me to buy a new device.

Wanting something that doesn't exist (well, from Nook or Kobo) has helped save me money

in your opinion. it doesn't look that good to me with the front light turned completely off which is how i would mainly use it. (that's my opinion) and it's ultimately the only one that matters to me

my advice to (all) those who might be thinking of buying any new ereader based on positive subjective reviews or put off by negative subjective reviews they read on here is to try one for (yourself) it's the only way you will know for sure if it suits (your) needs

It's the opinion of most people here who have/had both. But then most of us read with the frontlight on.

Trying one in real world may not be feasible for a lot of people who have to buy an ereader from a foreign country, because it's not available locally.

when i said try one for (yourself) i meant buy it, if happy keep it, if not send it back. most important piece of advice of all is make sure there's a good returns policy in place

Yes, and sending it back is what may not be feasible or even possible at all.

thank you for sharing that. it's good to know you can speak for most of the people who read books on ereaders in the world while i agree your probably correct i have no way of knowing for sure. personally i can only speak for myself and do.

I speak based on what I've read here on MR throughout several years. Nowhere did I say I speak for most ereader users in the world. "Most of us" in this case meant the MR members and I think you can't deny that most of those use the frontlight.
