Kobo Clara not responding

Good morning and hello,
I have a Kobo Clara which i have been using as a replacement for my Sony E-reader, up till now everything has been functioning well.
Last week i updated it and it hasn't functioned since.
It is stuck on a white screen with three black dots, my computer doesn't recognize its attached by USB and the power button flashes once when you connect it to power and then stays illuminated.
The only other thing that's happened since the update is that i charged it from a battery pack-could this have affected it?
Sorry for all the questions, its frustrating and unlike my old Sony does not have a reset button to push.

Have you fully charged it from the wall in the interim?

I've charged all my ereaders at one time or another via an external battery pack with no ill effects. At the very least I recommend leaving it to charge overnight via an ac outlet. Many times that's all it takes.

Morning,
i have had it on charge overnight, the led lights up but no change in the screen to say its charging, there is no response in the screen to try a factory reset. All im getting is a single flash of the led , and constant light when i switch on or attach it to power.
looks like i will be after a new one in the January sales.

Can I clarify what you mean by "there is no response in the screen to try a factory reset"? Have you done the manual factory reset procedure (and if so, exactly what did you do)?

Also, by what method did you update it?

It updated over wi-fi at home, I then charged it from a battery pack as it was on about five percent battery.I turned it on later in the day at work and it started up then screen went blank with the three dots. Since then the power led flashes on pressing to start then stays on constant, when it's plugged in it does the same, no change in screen, it doesn't light up or anything.I have read some of the threads and held down the power button for various lengths of time, left it charging overnight and still no response from it, the led light coming on is all that happens.

Been reading a few threads on here and it may look like i need an image to redo the SD card as my last chance before consigning this to the bin, can anyone send me an image please? Many thanks.
