Moving/Switching Library Location
Over the years I've used Calibre on a variety of PCs. Currently have installed it on a new Win 10 laptop. I've used it on two previous Win 10 machines and it was automatically installed where I wanted it.
In the past, it always could be found by going to This PC>Documents>Calibre Library. Now it is located in OS (C ![]() When I attempt to change the location using either the switch location or move the current library I can't accomplish it. I'm trying to get it in the first location I mentioned and selecting it with or without a named folder in that location already fails. What am I doing wrong? |

"This PC" is a pseudo-address for C:\Users\<username>\ - assuming C: is the system drive. It was previously known as "My Computer".
So, This PC>Documents>Calibre Library is the same location as C:\Users\«username»\Documents\Calibre Library. BR |

Wonder why the Calibre Library folder isn't showing up there in the first and how do I get it there without screwing up the link to the books with the program? Thanks

I need to correct something. The path where it is currently located is OS (C)>Users>user ID. You don't have to open the document folder to get to it.

If this is a fresh install the default library will be at C:\Users\«username»\Calibre Library, i.e. not in the Documents folder
Why? The Documents folder is subject to Windows "Controlled Folder" protection, an anti-ransomware measure, which has been known to create permission problems for calibre. So, the default library location was moved out of its purview. BR |

It was a new install on this PC a couple of months ago. It appears from your comment that they've changed the location. In the meantime, I put a shortcut into the documents folder. Thanks for the info.
