The GlowLight 3s screen and the way it feels in my hands still makes it worth it for me. And I'm going to keep bugging them about the font size selection (the rest doesn't bother me). I'm disappointed that the GL4 lost the dark screen — though I normally read it with the Night Light at less than half anyhow. Still the GL3 and GL+ (7.8") were unique in their "orangeness." They also had the LEDs at the top, like my old PocketBook PB615. (I think all the Nooks had LEDs at the top — I don't know if the new one followed tradition or not.)

Same goes for tweaking Android readers. It's nice that it can be done (looks like it can be done easily with the Nooks), I just (personally) don't have any interest in doing it — that's why I don't have any interest in the Android eInk tablets/readers. Now, if I could just get B&N to add that one font size (between positions 3 & 4) the GL3 would probably be my favorite reader. |

But the thing is, I have to have my requirements met, else it's like a low-level toothache constantly gnawing at me. Alas, Nooks don't meet them. Kindles do just barely. |

Another thing that was very important to me was built-in ADE (PocketBooks, Tolinos) but with the new DeASCM plugin for Calibre that's not as important to me. (I still like the feature, but DeASCM in Linux means not having ADE for Linux is no longer an issue.) As for Kobos, I like them fine. Just not interested in keeping up with patches. |

You might like the diagnostics that are here. You need ADB to start it:
Code:
$ am start -n com.nook.partner/.EasterEggActivity |

My GL Plus 7.8 had a problem with contrast after an update, but then it updated again and fixed the problem. The only contrast problem I have now is the Table of Contents and dictionary definitions are very light.

When the GL3 came out, I dug up the (then) CEO's phone number and called to complain about the partitioning for sideloading. |

That's something B&N did a while back on their GlowLights. I don't have any clue why, but I've gotten used to it.

The software is basic, but it does what I need and I really enjoy reading on them. I'd still like to see a campaign to have B&N add a few things to their software, mainly because they are things that have annoyed users for a long time. I'm lucky that font size 4 works just fine for me (if there were a 3.5 I'd certainly try it out though) and Georgia works just fine for me (though I'd be happy to see custom fonts added). I'd like to see series and shelves editable by Calibre. The truth is I don't do much with it on my Kobo. It's mostly just knowing Nook can handle series yet I'll never see it. In library view I really like the author stacking. Sort by author is my default view. I'd love to open the Stephen King stack and see a Dark Tower stack. Nook can do that. But only if you bought your books from B&N and only if the metadata is correct there. Last edited by ZodWallop; 12-12-2021 at 12:40 AM. |

service@bn.com I don't know if that will do any good. I always get an email back saying they passed it on to development. I can hope any way. ![]() |

I'm using my GL3 for my current book. I think because I find the bigger bezels more comfortable to hold. But, like you, I've gotten nothing against the Clara. For me the GL3's warm light screen outshines all the others I've used. Somehow more comfortable on my eyes.

My current book has h2 tags (for the 'books') and h3 tags (for the chapters). The h2 links are black. See attached photo (and please forgive the bizarre color correction. My GL Plus has a white bezel. Why it's yellow in the photo is a mystery. |
