Is Wraethu available in ebook format yet, does anyone know?

I've looked and have not found this one as an e-book I found the other trilogy (Sea Dragon Heir) but it's at 27 dollars at fictionwise I think...which is criminally overpriced in my opinion.

Also, just to be clear the Sea Dragon Heir is the first book in the trilogy not actually the name of the trilogy.

Her Magravandias series and the first book of her Wraeththu Histories are available, but not the Wraeththu series.

It's kind of odd they'd have the first book of the Wraeththu Histories but not the trilogy that actually put Storm Constantine on the map.

by any chance is the price for the Magravandias trilogy gone down? Last time I checked it was at 27...

Nope prices are still high. Fairly typical for a lot of books from Macmillan (Tor/St. Martins). Perhaps now that UK publishers seem to be doing more in the ebook market we'll see the original series come out (hopefully not geographically restricted) if they have the rights. From what I understand the problem with a lot of less recent books is that publishers don't hold digital rights to them.

I just don't get how they can expect to sell an ebook for three times the price of paperback in the store? Hell the hardcover at the store was only 17 dollars.

I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope they lower the prices someday. In the meantime, I still have my paper copies. And I guess the longer I wait to read the ebook versions the more I will have forgotten of the story.

Darn, that sucks. The only copy of the trilogy I can find IRL is the omnibus, and the paper is so thin I don't feel comfortable reading it. Maybe I can get the individual books through the library...

Anyway. I thought of another book! War for the Oaks by Emma Bull. Has that already been mentioned? It's urban fantasy, with some romance (and fight scenes!).

I can't believe I forgot to mention Sarah A. Hoyt's Magical British Empire

Heart of Light
Soul of Fire
Heart and Soul

All available from fictionwise at usual discounts off base price of $6.99

Just what it says on the tin - Victorian age British Empire with Magic and Shapeshifters. And a love story or three.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I was wondering if any of the recommendations in this thread had alien/human romantic undertones? I just finished playing Mass Effect (what an amazing game) and wanted to see if I could keep my high going with something similar in book form.

It might be stretching your boundaries a little (depending on how you define SciFi), but Neal Stephenson's Baroque trilogy is a cracking read.

I've not read this entire thread, so apologies if someone's already suggested it.

Maybe Stephen King's Wizard and Glass? The only problem is that it is the 4th book in a 7 book series.

There is Catteni series by Anne McCaffrey, though it's not exactly "undertones" that it has... Several of Lee & Miller's Liaden books (e.g. Conflict of Honors or Local Custom) have Terran/Liaden romance, although I don't know if Liadens fit your definition of "alien".

two suggestions:

1)
based on what you said, you might check out Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thmpson series, starting with "Moon Called". Strong female main character (with powers of her own), interesting take on Modern world + Fantasy world. As for the romance, she has her choices, plus looks like there will always be an unrequited love on the part of one of the main characters to deal with as well. I should also mention the writing often is quite humourous as well (it's first person so it's the character's sense of humour).

2) A little off-topic, but Naomi Novik's Temeraire series is a love story about a man and his dragon. Ok, that's not really the point of the series (But it is). Jane Austen meets Patrick O'Brian meets Fantasy. Can't get much cooler than that.
