Unfortunately, I did not. But I'm headed to look them up now, thanks for the recommendation

Traditionally, Am is correct. But the genre has expanded exponentially (I do adore allliteration, *grin*) in recent years. You have cat mysteries, cooking mysteries, needlework mysteries, knitting mysteries, scrapbooking mysteries... Here's the link to that Google Notebook list of authors. This plus a good Amazon search should give you an idea of what I mean when I use the term. Ignore my personal notes on some items..or get a good laugh out of them, either one .

A quick gmail search shows that I got them in June 08 for $0. I know they were free in the Sony and Kindle store. I don't recall if they were free at FW and BoB.

I am also "overweight" ... not ginormously fat ... just overweight. I must admit that I find people in the category of several hundreds of pounds overweight (as in 400-1100 pounds overweight) to be very unattractive myself. I guess it's just a matter of personal taste.

I don't consider them "lazy" as much as I think that once you are carrying around that much excess weight, it is difficult to do anything. The woman that I worked with (who, as I mentioned was in excess of 400 pounds), broke several standard lab stools, and was home sick more often than she was at work. That meant the rest of us got to cover for her. What fun. Also not particularly fun trying to get her up off the floor after she had smashed get another stool. I didn't sign up for that kind of heavy lifting.

So, I suppose if you equate "ginormously fat" with "overweight" then you could be easily insulted by statements made about people who are high risk morbidly obese. I hope that's not you, BOb.

Well, I am ginormous... well about 150 too much. I know some people see me as ugly, ignorant and lazy too. But, I just figure that is their problem.

Although the 20min per day walk and increased veggies/fruit diet has been helping. Pants are getting looser.

That's sort of what I thought you meant, krisk. I'm just not all that touchy about being a few stone over my "desired" weight.

Actually, my weight has been all over the damn map. As an adult (I think I was at my heaviest when I was about 17 or 18), I have been as thin as 103 pounds (I'm 5 foot 7 inches) and as heavy as 189 pounds.

Lost most of my weight when I left home (and got away from my mother's good cooking), and started living off of potato chips and soda pop. My weight was probably at its peak right before I left for Europe (in 1969).

Even at 189, I guess I didn't look all that big, since when I went to my ten year reunion (and weighed 120) no one freaking noticed that I had lost 69 pounds!!! It turns out that no one ever noticed what I weighed. All that teenage angst for nothing.

Well, as this is the vent and rant thread, and whilst we're talking about weight...

I am overweight. I lost a bit when I got depressed most recently, then my appetite vanished, I more-or-less stopped eating (less than 800 calories a day, most days, some days a lot less than that). During that period, I lost a little more weight - not much, and it came off very, very slowly, and then nothing for a couple of months. Every time I saw a doc, I mentioned it to them, and I swear I could see them disbelieve what I was saying, and thinking that as a fat woman I must be lying when I said I was hardly eating yet not losing weight. Occasionally they would praise me for losing weight slowly! I finally saw a nutrionist, who took one look at my meals for the previous week and told me in no uncertain terms that I was starving myself. With her help, we worked out a meal plan I thought I could stick to and, after a week long panic attack at the thought of eating as much food as was on the plan in one day, I did. This was about 2 months ago - in which time I've lost around a stone. I know GPs have a certain amount of time to see a patient, but WHY do they make these assumptions? It didn't take long for the nutrionist to spot the problem with the right information, so why not a sodding doctor?

Nonetheless -- *do* look them up. They are a great series! "In the Bleak Midwinter" is first. I've read the first three, and am taking a break for other flavors of book, before I buy the last 3. (so far... who knows where it will stop) They are quite good!
