It is those who keeps their devices constantly plugged in, that will suffer most from battery degradation. Not uncommon with for example company computers that are docked most of their time. |

I just received my Libra 2 with lylac cover. First look: very beautiful and perfect readability, but heavier than my old Glo. I think it's just a matter of getting used to it
![]() Now I want to install KoReader, first time, and the Calibre plugin. |

You would have to remove the internal μSD card from the Libra 2 to take an image of it. Connecting it to your PC only exposes a single partition and you will not be able to copy the system and recovery partitions. You might want to check these forums where you will find several messages about opening the Libra 2 and removing the internal μSD card.

You can grab an image in telnet shell: (image of bootloader, kernel, root and recovery - not of user data, that you can grab with clonezilla or whatever)
Code:
head -c $((512 * $(cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/mmcblk0p3/start) )) /dev/mmcblk0 > /mnt/onboard/mmcblk0.rawimg but since this image is taken while the system is running, there may be an issue with filesystem consistency in the image, so it might require post-processing however it should be "good enough" for recovery purposes (at most you'll have to run it through another factory reset) Last edited by frostschutz; 12-02-2021 at 03:33 PM. |

And the bottom plate is not sturdy either. When I touch almost all points, it flexes and makes noises. I returned it and got a new one but it is the same. Actually a little bit worse. I put a sleepcover (which is very pleasant to use) but it did not eliminate the issue completely. I now hear the sleepcover's little noises ![]() I try to live with it because I love the screen... Damn that screen... The light is well balanced and the text is perfectly black. Very high contrast! Plus, I migrate to koreader and it blows my mind. Beside being so easy, customisable, pdf-friendly and fast, it also has much much better kerning (which I am obsessed about). Anyway, overall build quality (back plate, buttons, etc.) is not so good (not bad either). I think Kobo made all its investments to the screen. Obsessions about clicks, flexes leave our mind throughout the time but the screen/display quality is the best of all worlds for me. |

Why is the Libra 2 thicker and heavier than the H2O? The features are all the same. Seems like a regression

And why is the libra 2 heavier than the forma, that's even stranger because the forma is an inch larger.

So now I also have the Kobo Libra 2 and I am very impressed with the screen but the casing itself feels a bit cheap with that plastic especially because I have a Kindle Oasis 3 for comparison. But this is not even such a problem, the big problem are the buttons because they dont have a button registration at any point of the button. The outer area until the middle can register button presses but when I try to press the inner area of the buttons nothing happens, no button pressing is being registered. Of course I can use more force for that button but I suppose I just use so much force that I also press the middle area. Therefore I assume that the inner areas of the buttons have no sensors at all.

It really is easy to just touch the page, bottom right, to go forward (and bottom left to turn back)
I realise everyone's got their own way to turn a page, but there are minimal complications touching bottom right or left |

Yeah i do not even use the buttons. I touch the screen to turn pages but still i like the wider bezel for grip. But i understand the gripe of others toward the buttons.

I find it is much easier to rest my thumb on the page turn buttons and gently squeeze without moving my hand or reaching to touch the screen to tap. As an aside, when I was younger, before ereaders, I always envied those who could hold and turn the pages of their paperback with one hand (thumb action). I never figured out how they did it. |

For me there is a huge complication: fingerprints. Can't stand them on my ereaders. And yes, I can always see them, even when my hands are absolutely clean and dry.

Fingerprints, golly I don't look for them
![]() I must say though, neither in broad daylight, with no lighting on at all, or when I do use the lighting, which is always very low, I never see fingerprints or other stuff on the screen. Occasionally I remind myself to clean the screen. Not often though |
