The button placement is not perfect, but if someone reads without a cover, I still find the Kobo more ergonomic than PW5 even if one only uses touch screen.
thank you.

Third party cases are starting to show up in AliExpress for Libra 2 and Sage.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003594584884.html

I ordered one to try. But since it's AliExpress, I don't expect it to arrive until January 2022.

The above, coupled with the 'power button issue', is what turned me toward the purchase of a Libra 2.

However, I am quite thrilled that you are happy with your ereader, since choice is part of what makes life worth living. (Harry Keogh told me that once, and I believe him. )

Just so you know.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Yes, I always read with a cover on, since I wish to protect my investment. The leather cover from Amazon works perfectly for me. The weight it adds is negligible, and flipping the front of the cover back gives it a wonderful feeling while holding the Oasis 3.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Be it bug or feature, I would imagine one intends to use it when accessing it.

My Libra 2 (white) and the cover (poppy red) has arrived VERY EARLY!

They were supposed to arrive December 1-3.

The above was confirmed with my sister today.

Now, 5-6 months from now - I'm slightly exaggerating - and the package should arrive here in Peru, with a very clean exacto knife cut running down the middle of the box, wrapper, and screen. Again, I'm slightly exaggerating - but not by much!

I also have the shadow bar close to the wedge, but it really does not bother me the slightest as the actual light is both so perfect even and with the right warm orange colours.

Interesting that you prefer the Sage over the Libra 2!

I could possibly see that might apply to me as well if I try both devices. Even if I do not like heavy devices (my main concern with the Sage) I usually prefer thinner devices and also flush screens. The screen size of A1 and Forma is perfect for reading books, and I am glad they continued with that size on the Sage. I would not like to have smaller screens and the Elipsa is too big for me.

The weight was my main concern as well, and I'm a total couch potato without any muscles to speak of (I don't have arthritis or carpal, though). The first couple of days I had to change hands more frequently, but I'm used to it now. My Nook Glowlight 7.8'' was considerably heavier (I've decided to sell it).

If you're very sensitive to uneven screens, you still might not prefer the Sage. I do see the differences, but I've never been particularly fussy about them. All my frontlit readers, with the exception of the Oasis 3 and the Libra 2, have always been pretty uneven.

Presently, I only use the Sage and the Elipsa. I have buried my Libra H2O in a cupboard: its yellowish screen (even after an exchange) was too annoying, and I discovered that the Sage (without cover) fit in the outside pocket of my bag (not big, just a couple of centimeters bigger than the sage in width and height), so carry it around. Plus the extra inch of the Sage does make a difference.

Do not be too optimistic about PDFs on the Sage: in my library, there are 15 PDFs that are good on the Sage (and wood look good on the Libra too), but look ridiculous on the Elipsa, and 111 that are readable only on the Elipsa plus 26 epubs that also need the Elipsa. And even on the Elipsa, there are a very few which I have to read in landscape mode, la Nueva gramática de la lengua espáñola de la Real Academia Española for instance. I used to read some of the other "Elipsa only" on the Forma in landscape mode, but it was not pleasant with PDFs with 2 columns text.

When you turn it on though, the reading experience on the Libra 2 is infinitely better - the blacks stay black and the background becomes white, while on the Aura H2O the frontlight (besides being overall worse/not as even because of older tech, though it wasn't bad for the time) just washes everything out and makes the blacks greyer.

Then there's everything else that comes with the new device - The Libra 2's UI, page turns, refresh time ecc. are way faster, there's minimal ghosting compared to the Aura H2O which is pretty bad etc. And of course the resolution. I read at smaller font sizes and I wouldn't be able to do that on the Aura H2O without setting refresh at every page, but I can definitely do that on the Libra 2, and I am very picky about how sharp the text needs to look.
I don't find much of an issue with ghosting on the H2O. The only time I do is sometimes when one screen is a full screen graphic and the next is less then half full. But it's very easy to refresh the screen. I save a lot of battery not having the screen refresh every time.

Eventually, I'll get a Libra 2 given how good the screen is and the battery life.

Have you tried the PW5 vs. the Libra 2 with detailed images?

My H2O is 6 years old and the battery is actually pretty good considering. When I charge it, Ido charge to 100%. But I do let it get down (most of the time) to 20% or less.

So why is it that even though I'm not following the rules to keep the battery going, it's still going?
