Walmart Clara w/ Kobo Affiliate?

I just realized that my Kobo Clara HD, bought from WalMart, never displays any Walmart logos. (I think it did before I set it up.) So I checked the affiliate file and it says "Kobo." Is this because I logged into my Kobo account with it? — or am I just lucky? For a short while I had a Kobo and a Walmart/Kobo account. But they kept wanting me to merge the two into Walmart, so I finally just closed the Walmart account, which only had one or two books. I've never manually changed the affiliate file.

I know when I bought mine the affiliate was Walmart and I changed it manually. Haven't touched it since.

I'm not really sure what this is but may have it. I have maybe 80 books total for my Kobo. One time I logged in and only had 3 books. Now all few dozen show up so I guess I logged into a different one. I don't use the Kobo too often and don't know anything about the infrastructure but reading this makes me wonder.

The affiliate is related to where the device was bought and possibly where books are bought. I assume they get a cut from book sales through the Kobo store. But, they have some say in how updates are rolled out and some affiliates also have some changes specific to them. FNAC and WalMart have the boot logo replaced by their own logo. FNAC have also turned off some of the sleep options so that the book cover cannot be displayed full screen. Changing the affiliate to something else for these reasons has been well discussed over the years

If books you have purchased aren't appearing, and you think you have multiple Kobo accounts, then that is probably the most likely reason. But, if that isn't the case, they should sync and it is really a matter of making sure the device is syncing. If you have left the device alone for a while, I'd probably sign out of the device and back in. With a check to make sure I had the right account. That would ensure that everything was up to date.

Maybe I just got one that wasn't set up to be a Walmart affiliate eReader. Not complaining.

Sounds like you might have two accounts. For a while I had a Walmart account (which seems to be the default login for those living in the U.S.A. even if you don't buy the Kobo from them). I always drop down to the Kobo Rakuten login instead. When I had the Walmart account I kept getting harangued to merge the two. I think that would have meant I would have been officially moved to Walmart and I didn't want to do that. In the end I just dropped the Walmart account. I think I had one cheap book and a couple free ones, so it was no big loss.
