sideloaded kepub page number page 1 of book bugs.

ok so I have read old threads I can find on this, and have carefuly checked structure of the books I am sending from calibre via the kepub extended driver, to make sure there is one file per headed and an accurate rebuilt toc...


this is the repeatable bug, on several sideloaded books
1. open the kepub book in Kobo ( I use a forma but I guess device is not the issue)
2. go to the KOBO toc select a random chapter
3. chapter opens OK, but kobo says its now on page 1 of the book , and it shows the book name, not the chapter name at foot of screen

i can usually "clear" the bug" by a page turn back to prev chapter then a page turn forward, then the page number gets itself sorted.
but its annoying

once again, I do understand how kobo expects a 1-1 relationship between html files and nav points and I very carefully make sure that's what is sent.
i know that other navigation bugs can appear if I break that 1-1 relationship

I have not yet tried abandoning kepub altogether and reading in epub. that would probably bypass it though, as I have never seen this happen in an overdrive epub .

i could , in the absence of any other ideas, try getting that same book onto the kobo in both kepub and epub formats. by tweaking just enough to make it seem like a different entry in the device database. [ how ? ] then play with the toc controls in both, looking for differences. that will be tedious and frustrating, probably.
