[GUI Plugin] Extract ISBN

Hello,
i get the same ERROR as the others.
System: Win 10 / Calibre 5.32(64bit)
Also i try Calibre 5.32(portable) on a USB-Stick.
I try also the solution from @feuille to change the files. Nothing happend.
Please can somebody help?

Another option that could work is for it to list all the found ISBNs (and the text immediately preceding/following it) and let the user pick.

It has been a problem for years that under Windows the ExtractISBN plugin does not work for me on any pdf file. The log reads:
Starting job: Extract ISBN for 1 books
================================================== =
...
Format: PDF
Exception when scanning for ISBN: not all arguments converted during string formatting
Failed to extract ISBN

I have tested with different versions of Python; the result is always the same.
The plugin works under Linux.

I looked, There is the a single EAN ISBN: ISBN 978 92 4 154991 2 in the book. It looks normal (I did not calculate the check digit)

It did not seem odd VISUALLY (the spacing characters/methodology might be what is tripping things up)
This info may help the maintainer dig deeper

I just added some barcode recognition for CBZ file type.

First I try on the last page to extract the barcode and to read it with pyzbar. If there is nothing, on the first 10 pages I try to OCR the text with tesseract and extract an ISBN. If not I try to OCR the text on the last 5 pages and extract an ISBN

Hi. If you are confirm in programming, an you please take a look on the ISBN extract? I try your version, but the extract of pdf are still don't work for me. If you need some log files, tel me where i can find and what you need. It would be great if you can take a look for that.

The changes I did are only for CBZ types.

I checked quickly your file 9789241549912-eng.pdf The ISBN is on the page 4 which is in the first 10 pages.

It is working correctly on my computer on linux.

There is something WRONG with that.
the number you found says eng: that is odd

the ISBN Numbers say otherwise:
English ISBN would start 9780. The first Digit (ISBN10) is Language
The only letter allowed is 'X" in the last (Check Digit of ISBN10), and it is not used for the EAN (ISBN13/978) version

First, my compliments and thanks for this very usefull plugin!

With most books it works fine for me, but for some (EPUB) books the plugin will not extract the ISBN, even though it is present. The log will say "Invalid ISBN match" a large number of times. When I open the book with the Calibre reader, I can find the ISBN easily enough.

I've attached the log and the EPUB page (it's the 5th page, as a xhtml file) of the book containing the ISBN.

Does kiwidude or someone else still maintain and develop this plugin?

That is because those are 100% fake ISBN shown in the Log.

The last digit is a CALCULATED check digit and is never sequential

substitute pdfinfo.exe included in calibre's msi installation with xpdf-tools-win-4.03\bin64
