Note Pro and Nova Pro Upgrade to Android 9

So you've got a RK3288 in masked ROM mode. That is the lowest form of life, when everything is broken. Can your Rockchip utilities tell you anything, whether you still have partitions?

Edit: I presume that you've tried a long reset push a few times to see that it always comes back to the same thing?

idVendor: 0x2207 = Fuzhou Rockchip Electronics Co., Ltd.
idProduct: 0x320A

http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids

This will probably take a WinUSB driver (from Zadig) for community supplied tools.
This may need a Rockchip driver (same as WinUSB but presents a different GUID) for factory Rockchip utilities.

Here are the boot.img files from the update.upx file for the Note Pro firmware 3.1 Android 9.

Firefox generated an error when I clicked my own link. Apparently, the file server has been used for malicious executables.

I've downloaded the files successfully. What are the steps now? Do I need to flash both the boot and recovery image?

And could it be that my device works after that or do I probably have to redo the upgrade process?

I've tried connecting the device to RKDevTool, and the program says "Found one loader device", but the device test or other advanced functions don't work.

I suspect it is because the device is not in recovery mode, but i can't get into the recovery menu in any way. I've tried several methods to get into the recovery mode, with no success.

Any ideas?

*EDIT* I accidentally got into the recovery menu and chose "reboot to recovery", but RKDevTool still didn't recognized the device (no device found). And when I used USBView I found out the device was in fastboot mode. But I don't know if that's helpful or not. I can't find much about fastboot on rockchip yet.

Fastboot is great.
Do you have a boot image or a recovery image?
First, try them out before flashing anything.

Sounds like it, unfortunately.

I think I'll just leave the Nova Pro as it is, maybe buy a second hand Nova 2 to "enjoy" a more recent Android - less risk and less hassle than flashing the ROM.

I'm going to send my Note Pro to Onyx for repair. ADB could not find my device, so I couldn't do anything with it. I begin to suspect it's a hardware problem.

Aw, come on, you got fastboot! You can fix this.
Fastboot is even simpler than ADB.

The package is already sealed. I couldn't get a response with ADB, so haven't tried fastboot. I suspect a hardware problem, because it gets hot sometimes when connected to charger and other times it doesn't.

I already explained that fastboot and ADB are mutually exclusive.
In your current state fastboot is what you need.

Yes, I know. But I would have tried more if I could consistently get into recovery mode, that's the strange part. The normal ways don't work, I can only get into it accidentally.
