My Libra 2 arrived today, i'm very pleased by it.

- Frontlight is even in all conditions, comfort light is orange.

- Screen contrast is better than i thought it would be, i have to embold fonts a lot less than i had on H2O, book covers also look a lot better.

- Page turning in epubs is noticeably faster.

PayPal is what I used after finding the cards I have didn't work. The site gave a "technical error" and suggest trying later. That happened for a few days until I decided to go the PayPal route. I have reported the problem to Kobo.

Taking out the 9g, that's 34g. So why the extra 34g, beefing it up for a glass substrate?

And it is interesting that the eink site doesn't list a Carta 1200 8" glass substrate panel? Are we sure that the Sage doesn't have a plastic substrate? They also don't list a 8" mobius panel.
1 - My point was more to explain that the Libra2 weight was more in the norm and it was not necessarily fair to compair it to the forma.
2 - The forma doesn't use a Carta 1200 8" flexible screen. So we can't use your comparison / extrapolation.

Can anyone tell me if the sleep cover for the Libra 2 is attached magnetic as the Sage one is or if it clips on?

There is a cheap Grey official cover for the Libra 2, it's not on the Kobo site but on Indigo and other sites, it the cover doesn't bend but it's priced a bit less than the other covers, has anyone tried that one?

This one.

It's available on Kobo's U.S. site:

That is actually a better cover if you do not care for the flodable stand functionality. This cheaper cover has all sides of the libra 2 covered except for the usb port. The other type has the whole usb port side of the bezel exposed

Even putting a removed card back in might turn out to be difficult as there can still be leftover glue blocking the way (I didn't try it - decided to back off at this point). Unless you're very desperate you should consider this device to be like eMMC - non-removable storage.

Edit:

I'm not sure anymore if that was glue at all. it was dry on the outside, but turned greasy after moderately heating it, so it might be some kind of water-proofing gel instead. Unfortunately even after heating and removing most of the goop that I could reach around / above and under the card, it's still completely stuck.

Not sure what's the deal, whether it's simply stuck due to all the waterproof coating inside the slot, or whether it's actually soldered on or something. So might be it just needs a good tug or might be you'd destroy the microsd slot along with it, and that's not within my skills to repair, so I give up on it for now.

I've made a backup of the card so even destroying the card in the removal process would be an option if it left the slot intact... but I won't go in that direction until absolutely necessary.

If anyone else figures this out, please let me know. For now, I'm stumped.
See post #45 and #54 in the tolino vision 6 thread on the allesebook.de forum.
Someone pulled the microsd card out of the tolino vision 6.
He used isopropanol, dental floss etc.

Does someone else's Libra 2 has mushy next page button?
Upper one is nice and clicky, but bottom one is mushy and squeaks if pressed from angle.

That's wonderful news. Thank you for pointing it out.

Although the device looks very different (microsd slot itself is in a different place) it should probably be similar enough. Also wow, that's a lot of cruft in and all around the card, impressive pictures.

Maybe I'll try it again sometime, for now it's good to know that it will be possible, given enough effort.

PS: Another user in that thread wrote that his device stopped working until he managed to properly clean the slot. So... possible but risky anyway.

I really hate that water proofing is now standard premium feature. I have 99 problems with my e reader but water damage isn't one of them. Unnecessary weight and expense that make it harder to repair.

Same here. I don't use the upper button that much so I guess that's why it's still in good shape but it didn't take long before the bottom one became looser. I don't really bother but I hope it doesn't get worse

And I appreciate it. Currently I'm using two readers, one has warm lighting and the other is waterproof. I wish my Clara was waterproof. It would solve some problems for me.
