No, never happened to me. Must be someting related to your wifi router.

Regarding the warm light, it doesn't change gradually, does it? I mean, it is always off until the scheduled time arrives, then goes directly to the level specified in the settings. I have a Kobo Libra H2O and it begins to change gradually before the scheduled time, which is very nice.

No wifi issues here. The device automatically picked up wifi at first use, with no need for me to enter the password, and it has worked fine since.

I've got free KU now from a Fire purchase. When it runs out I may get the new PW if it still includes the 4 mo. free KU, especially if by then I can trade in my old PW for credit. People have talked about trade-in credit but I don't get any option for that when I go to the page for the new PW.

The trade in devices are limited to what Amazon want so unfortunately your device may not be applicable. Also if you could trade in your device and you qualified for a discount against a new kindle you can’t select one with free Kindle Unlimited. I tried that this week and I could only add a kindle without KU.

The either/or makes sense. But how do I know if I have a device I can trade when there is nowhere on the page to initiate a potential trade. It seems I should at least be able to try to trade in my Acme Whizbang Model 4 and then be told it isn't eligible but there's nowhere to try.

My trade in was processed this week too. I got an Oasis. I sold my Oasis 2 and a PW4, and with the trade in I was able to get the Oasis 3 for nothing

Locate the device you want to trade by tapping it on Amazon's Content and Devices page. (It's in your "Account and Lists" pulldown). That gives you a "device summary," which will tell you whether there's a trade-in available for that device.

None of my 4 devices have a trade-in. Oh well. The 4 months free KU is probably better anyway.

The change happens gradually with sunset and sunrise. It uses your WiFi router to determine the device’s location. I don’t use the manual scheduled time option so I don’t know whether or not it happens gradually.

I use the manual schedule and it is not gradual; as soon as the set time arrives, the lighting changes.

I know it’s not really the topic of this thread but I’m so glad I got the Oasis 3 for my trade in and didn’t weaken and order the PW5. It’s so much better with the warm light feature (I had the Oasis 2 previously). The only thing that could improve it for the next update is a bigger screen. I’d like an 8 inch.

Yes, an 8 inch screen, a return to a more book-like rectangular shape, and along with the extra size for the screen more battery for less frequent charging.
