The Libra 2, without the case on, is 50g heavier than the ClaraHD, without a case, so I would weigh your case and if that’s less than 50g, then it would I would say the Libra 2 would be too heavy.

Good day you all,
At the same price between a used Forma with case and new Libra 2 which one would you pick?

The new Libra, certainly. Unless you absolutely need the 8'' screen.

Libra 2 hands down. Like Sirtel said, unless you really want 8" screen.

Thank you for all the observations and opinions, everyone.

My Libra 2 is upstairs hidden in the Christmas present cupboard (which the other half doesn't think I know about, but I know where he puts them). I knew it must have arrived when he asked me what I'd ordered from the Netherlands and I asked him to check.

I am hoping to persuade him that I need it before Christmas to patch and fill up with books. I have Christmas eve off this year, and prepping a new ereader with a nice glass of baileys sounds a nice way to spend it.

Can you explain how you define evenly balanced?

I have an Aura HD and yes, the Libra 2 feels marginally lighter. With cases on, the Aura feels a lot heavier.

I can comfortably hold the Libra in either hand or underneath in landscape. It doesn't feel like the weight is trying to pull any side down. I do prefer the Libra out of the case.

I'll go against the grain and say Forma and it's not even close. Screen size is by far the most significant factor in any e-reader as long as the quality of the screens are comparable, and in this case they are. In fact, I believe the Forma is actually lighter than the Libra 2. Not even close!

Mostly just that the weight is somewhat evenly distributed. Which it sounds like it is.

I don't really know how to judge weight distribution. From the insides of the device (picture in first post) the battery seems deliberately placed to balance things out but you never know. It seems fine to me but not sure how to go about testing it. If this ever was an issue with other readers, I never noticed it

The Libra 2 is very comfortable to hold and I don't feel like, when I hold it in either hand, it wants to tip either way.

I disagree with some others. The weight is distributed unevenly. The side with the buttons is significantly heavier. Try to balance the device over the center axis. It won't work.

Whether that affects you ergonomically depends on your individual reading position. In my case, while I don't like the asymmetry, it doesn't bug me too much because usually I have a lot of the weight resting on something else, a pillow, my belly...

A lot of people seem to like the buttons. Personally, I could do without them. But if you think the buttons make sense, then some sort of asymmetry seems to follow (unless you do some weight counterbalancing, as has been suggested. But I don't think that in this case it is effective).

Where did you get this information?
The Sage is supposed to have a better contrast, darker blacks than the Forma and between my Sage and Libra 2, the Libra 2 has the better contrast and darker blacks. In term of front light, hands down the Libra 2 is better than the Sage, perfectly even on the entire surface.
I think the Libra 2 has the better screen.

Since that is the side we're supposed to hold the reader by, that's precisely where you want most of the weight to be. It's a good thing!

I've never seen a Sage, but the evenness of the Libra 2's lighting floored me. You're exactly right with what you say.
