Funny (well maybe wrong) behavior with calibre v 5.31.1
I just installed calibr 5.31.1 to verify if my modified pluggin is working...
the debug startup looks as follow: Code:

I select a line in calibre right click to display edit metadata then edit metadata one book at the time A new windows pops-up... I do NOT download ANY metadata... In the comment (tab "normal view")I delete everything end enter: Code:

line 1 line 2 line 2 I have not find this reported... I have not observed this behavior in calibre 5.29, the version I was using previously... I doubt that this behavior is tied with my particular set of books, however, I am quite puzzled when some books seems NOT to be affected at all... ![]() Question: I need to deinstall calibre 5.31 to reinstall 5.29... Will I loose any setup by doing so??? Warning. I hope I was complete in reporting my problem as I will not be able to access my computer before next tuesday or wednesday next week. Try installing 5.31.1
5.31.1 fixes a bug in an HTML serialization library calibre uses that broke a few things, such as the comments editor tool in the metadata dialog BR Quote:

![]() I was convinced that I had 5.31.1 because I had the latest (read, no update was proposed) and that was the version available for download... I guess the code used for prompting an update is not sensing the most minor revision in 3.31.1 Anyway my problem seems to be solved with a manual update to 5.31.1 ![]() |

Calibre doesn't detect minor updates. I kind of wish it was an option though.

![]() As a(n amateur) developper, I should have read the log, I should have verified if a newer version existed... Would it be possible to include a "download the latest version if it is better even by a minor version" in some place easy to find such as under the preference tab, or under a clearly idendified icon in the preferences (of course provided that it does not exists yet, because I could not find it...) That would NOT swamp people with useless messages, but would certaily help to upgrade before to report problems... Anyway, thanks to take care. Last edited by lrpirlet; 11-05-2021 at 10:13 AM. |
