I search for solutions to combat music playing in Morrowind when there aren't any enemies around (if it's a cliff racer stuck in a tree, Detect Creatures isn't picking it up). Google, in all its infinite wisdom, gives me a result for the toughest enemies in Skyrim.

Welp, it happened. I open a link to check it still exists and suddenly get redirected to a page full of images that I ought not to describe on a family-friendly forum. I've never closed a tab so quickly.

I did something like that once. Not only did I close it quickly but I also immediately cleared history and cookies. Sure didn't want to start seeing ads or anything else related to that!

I had to replace my second monitor today as the other one died. Upgraded from 24" to 27" which meant I had to modify my home made stands. After almost two hours of tinkering, finally my monitors are back in place and plugged in.

30 minutes of cursing because the new monitor won't work and I am starting to wonder if I have a faulty connector on the mother board. Replace cables three times with spares I had lying around, and then googling why all I get onscreen is "No input available"

Hmmm, even though I have HDMI plugged in, the screen defaults to the empty D-Sub input. Is it too hard to place a helpful message on screen- "would you like to switch to HDMI input" or bloody just switch to it automatically!!!!

I went to take a cable out of my big box o' cables. The damn thing exploded on me. Cables flying everywhere. I might've packed it a bit too tight.

So, once upon a time I had this cute windows tray applet for weather. It scraped the Yahoo weather site. But like most screen scrapers it was flaky due to site layout changes, but the dev would have it fixed within a day or two.

However last time it stopped working it didn't get fixed. So, I scratched around for an alternative and discovered MS had a thing called News and Interests in the pipeline that included a weather tray applet -- so I decided to wait for it to show up, and I waited, and I waited, and…

Today @thiago,eec posted a screen shot, and I noticed he had a weather thing in his taskbar - so I went on the hunt.

Lo and behold, I discovered I've had the News and Interests thingme since June 2021!

But then I discovered it will only show up on the taskbar, if the taskbar is on the bottom of the monitor. I have mine on the left and have done for years, on XP I had a registry hack, that didn't work on Vista. However, since Windows 7 was released the Taskbar location on screen: Left/Top/Right/Bottom setting has been part of the furniture .

How can something that doesn't work on 75% of the target configurations get beyond the factory gate.

Does anyone know if Windows 11 has the Taskbar location setting. I have the sinking feeling they have probably taken it away. Like Mozilla took away the ability to have tabs UNDER the url bar adjacent to the pages to which the tabs refer.

Unfortunately, no - I occasionally lurk on the DonationCoder forum and I think the dev said back some months or thereabouts that he was looking into alternatives after Yahoo shut down the API.

Personally, I just use the weather tile that Windows 10 had pre-installed in the start menu, though I'm probably a rarity in that I actually like 10's tiled menu (being able to fix the tiny shortcut icons helps).
