My mother's going to get her second cataract surgery today. The first one, a month ago, was a success. Which wasn't a given, since that eye had hard cataracts. The other eye has normal cataract, so the surgery will be quicker, but my mother still has to get a full anesthetic because of her occasional leg spasms. Her operation is scheduled for just after noon, so we expect to pick her up between 4 and 5pm.
Even if it's a routine operation, we're all still a bit tense. |

Mostly done with unpacking. Today my project is running cable up through the wall from the house smart hub to the third bedroom I decided to make my office.
We turned the second floor loft into a vintage video game zone/reading area. I bought a very squashy couch and ottoman to go up there. I spent most of last evening reading there and it was lovely. Rumple - hope your mother's surgery went well. |

Yes, it did went well. She can now read subtitles on TV with both eyes again. She just has to get used to when she has to wear glasses, for decades she was nearsighted, now she needs reading glasses.
I've just booked my Reading Retreat, not for January but February this time. I wanted the same cottage I stayed in in 2020, but that wasn't available in January. |

Today, I'm recovering from Ma and Paw Kettle fix the plumbing that blew up under the sink, that we didn't realize had occurred for IDK-how-long, unfortunately.
65-70 y.o. bodies are not mean to torque around under the damned sink, replacing everything from the shut-off-valves to everything else, in a space too small to be comfortable, without removing the sink. (If we'd removed the sink, we'd have to replace the entire countertop [stone], which means redoing the entire kitchen...evil dominoes, ya know?) That's all I gotta say about that. Two-day project and we're both like 90-y.o.'s today. Grumble. Hitch |

Preparing to go on a walk in the forest with my sister. We're going to an area where there are several estates next to each other. The walk we picked is 5km (just over 3 miles) long; we're going to start easy. I printed out the route plus the descriptions of notable things along the route.
There's a visitor's center from a nature organization at the start/end of the route, I'm thinking of joining up. There's also a restaurant nearby, after our walk I'll treat us to lunch. I'm hoping the fall colours are on display in the forest. |

Mentally preparing for my least favourite household chore: vacuuming and mopping the livingroom, kitchen, hallway and toilet.
Mind you, the alternative was to join my parents and sister to visit the garden center. On a Sunday. In October. When the Christmas department is in full swing. Given a choice I'll choose the household chores any time. A garden center on a Sunday when the Christmas department is set up is my idea of hell. I does mean the cats will be upset with me the rest of the day. Because first I will bring out the red monster (vacuum) and then I'll proceed into moving the furniture and other crap on the floor around several times. |

Trying to recover from a day of court that included multiple clients having panic attacks, a defendant having a panic attack and another defendant being held in contempt for threatening me.
