How to programmatically get the sidecar "suffix"?
For Kindle sidecar files
(for example) Code:

It is the hex equivalent of the md5 hash of the Amazon customer ID.

What is Amazon customer ID? It's not my email address, and it's not amzn1.account.AF6RHO7KZU5XRVQJGXK6HB56KR2A or AF6RHO7KZU5XRVQJGXK6HB56KR2A (or any lower/uppercase versions) (ID changed for privacy). Is the hash salted?

It is the string starting with “amzn1.account”. It is a regular md5 hash.
For the account you gave the hash would be ed85e5812a197f9ee6d5579681ad8f9b. I don't know what is used if the Kindle is unregistered. The hex string is omitted if the device is unregistered. Last edited by jhowell; 10-27-2021 at 08:12 AM. |

Yes, this is the account ID. I’ll look it up in my notes, I remember getting it a long time ago on Kindle 4
