Not needing bright light doesn't necessarily mean good eyes. My eyes are pretty poor (very nearsighted, without glasses everything is a total blur, unless I stick my nose real close), but at the same time they're sensitive to bright lights. Being in direct sunlight is painful, for example.

TL;DR everyone's eyes are different

Looks like the sage is showing stock again on the Canadian kobo site. I finally got to order mine. Indigo shows stock but each time I placed an order in the last five days they would email me they had no stock even though their website is still showing stock…..

For my fellow Amuricans (sorry, I've been reading https://www.reddit.com/r/HermanCainAward/) that are hopelessly confused by metric an ounce is about 30 grams. So it's about 60 grams more, or 2 ounces more.

This comment, and the demo in this review, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAb64deT1tw, helped me finally understand why I've never noticed any lighting issues on any of my Kobos. I've never taken my brightness past 39%, and it's normally between 25-35%, so that's likely why I've never noticed a problem. That said, after switching to the 4K version of that review, even the infamous band on his Forma looked no worse than the shadow in the spinal valley of actual paper books. My hesitancy re the Sage is fading fast.

It’s a guess on the number of LEDs of course, but I’d be surprised if there were an extra one(s) on the Sage since they still diminish the blue light which is what they’re meant to do.

Is that how it works? I used the Nook GL3 which had a much redder light. I doubt it had more lights than the kobos. I thought it was more to do with how red the lights could intrinsically go to.

Probably both, the GL3 could go redder than the Libra 2, I just doubt Kobo would use different red LEDs in the same generation of devices. They’ve always been less red than the Nooks, with the KA1 being the reddest of the Kobo line (I believe).

Sounds a lot like my eyes. Although in my case, I don't like direct sunlight glaring off a print book page, but I do tend to keep my front light on my reader on the higher side. This may be because I don't actually get much in the way of direct sun streaming into the house, especially this time of year.

So my light is usually set around 30-40% during the day or even as high as 50% on occasion. But much, much lower at night, as then I can't stand too much light when the rest of the room is dark.

I really appreciate the ease of adjusting the light/font size on my Kobo so my eyes get exactly what they want.

Thank you for posting this. I was looking for the weight of the reader + cover as well.

I think his scale is off by quite a bit though.
He measured the Forma at 6,7 ounces or 190g, when it should be 197g.
He measured the Libra 2 at 7,3 ounces or 207g, when it should be 215g.

The Sage is a great but some things are not very well thought. I don't understand these magnets on the back / side of the device. I catch everything metallic. I caught and made my AirPods case fall on the ground stupidly because of that.
Why didn't they put the magnets in the cover instead?
