Have I missed this somewhere, what's the storage volume for the Sage? I'm looking at the kobo site and comparing devices but it doesn't show for the Sage.

On another point. I couldn't help but reflect on the old Sony ereaders having audio capability all those years ago.

Reckon there are any differences in the sage devices released in different countries? So a sage device released in country a should be the same as a sage device released in country b? Device language can be set on initial set up, and there shouldn't be any firmware or hardware differences, and given its now got a usb c outlet, it's a universal cord.

I'm totally peed off that I have to pay aud $100 more than the same device price jn the US. So why the stuff should I buy the device non Australia?!?!?!

Aud $439.95 (really .95!), usd $259.99 (xe.com 347.80 aud = 260 usd)

Canada $299.99. (Xe.com $324.55 aud equivalent)

There is no rationale for this extraordinary differential except price gouging. Bastards!

There can be a lot of reasons.

currency uncertainty, different/smaller market, customs, does Australian prices include taxes? (cause the Canadian and US don't)

Tosh! It's because they can!

And it's because they can that the aus government allows geo unblocking, because they also get price gouged for government purchases.

You were given a very reasonable explanation and described it as "tosh"?

Australia does have a Goods and Services Tax, does it not? A quick google says that it's at 10%, which accounts for at least some of the difference you mention.
The "smaller markets" explanation was also very reasonable. To test this, I checked the price Kobo is charging in an even smaller market, New Zealand, and found that the equivalent price in AUD would be $468 - higher still, even factoring in their higher rate of GST. Since you're so outraged by the price charged in Australia that you're unable to reply civilly to someone attempting to be helpful, it's a good thing you're not in New Zealand, or your rage might have been even worse.

Yes tosh, this price mark up for the aus market has been covered numerous times in mobileread, and yet the Australian government has not seen fit to change its purchasing behaviour to desist purchasing from overseas markets either. If your feelings were hurt by my response, then consider they're not nearly as hurt as my back pocket.

Just investigated staples Canada, and as yet the sage is not showing as in stock, although the libra 2 is. Staples apparently will sell to aus, and that's where I'll buy it from.

Um I read just now that they only deliver in Canada? Where did you see the info they ship elsewhere?

(I'm also investigating options, as Kobo doesn't ship to my country)

It's clear that smaller markets are paying more than larger ones, but it's also clear that differing tax structures do contribute to the different prices being charged, as the original respondent calmly suggested.

I gather that in Europe they only ship to businesses. Oh well. Possibly I'm going to order from some Germany store and use a mail forwarder.

I'll wait for user reviews here before clicking the buy button, though.
