I agree completely. And I did buy the Oasis 1 and loved it until the Oasis 2 with a 7'' screen came out.

Nor would I. A complete lack of obsessive focus on battery life is also why, if I do eventually buy a Sage, I will not add 26% to the cost by buying a Power Cover (also a lot more weight, ofc)

I would buy the Power Cover to keep the Sage in while I was NOT reading it. But not for that price. I still haven't won that lottery.

If not reading it, why not just charge it while in an ordinary cover?

I'm lazy. It's easier to just put in in the cover than to fiddle with chargers and cables. Still, I'm not willing to pay 80$ for my laziness.

But according to you, you MUST read with a cover, which brings the weight waaaaaaay over a half a pound. That is waaaaaaay too heavy.

I've been thinking about a Libra H2O for some time. When the Libra 2 was announced, I decided to buy the H2O because I do not need audiobooks. But the arrival of the H2O's replacement was a bit of a quandary. Would the H2Os be allowed to just sell out and disappear forever? Or would they soon have a generous clearance sale price. What to do?

Fearing the former, i went ahead and bought one. So far I'm enjoying it immensely. The only surprise was that the landscape screen mode only works for the actual books, not for the home screen, menus, etc.

If you find the weight of a Reader to be too heavy, why not use a stand? Then you don't have to worry about how much it weighs. There's only so light these devices can be made before it's not possible to make them any lighter.

Hey! If they can make a Libra H2O, why not a Libra H2?

The first is water resistant. The second floats in the air.

Call it ... The Hindenbook?

Ah yes, I'll carry a stand with me to the waiting room in the doctor's office.

Yeah, I've not quite mastered the art of comfortably using an ereader stand while lying in bed.

We know the devices _can_ be lighter, because they have been. It's a deliberate choice to go heavier.

But surely, if the choice is between giving the appearance of dubious mental competence by lugging a stand everywhere or NOT USING A CASE, sacrificing one's dignity and sanity is worth it? One MUST ALWAYS use a case, no?

Silly people!

I've taken up residence in my Doctor's office.

No stand or case is needed, just a chest of drawers for clothes!

My Sony PRS-350 has two pieces of self-adhesive velcro soft part. I got a €2 A6 size hardback notebook and removed the pages. Stuck the velcro hook side to inside back.
Perfect cheap cover for my pocket.

I pop the Kobo Libra out of its cover if reading for an extended period at home.

I use the Libra on a plastic & wire stand sold for €4 for a cookery book on the desk when reading out loud to record narration. I press "page next" as I'm reading the last word(s) on the page. Faster over all and easier than a swipe or tap on a reader with no buttons.
