Sun! We've actually got sun over here!

And they said the nice weather would stay over the weekend! Which is even better.

No wind, no clouds, perfect weather to sit inside, and work....

They made it, but seeing as there's currently no way to Cooran, we've now got a houseful staying overnight that we didn't expect (sister, brother-out-law, nephew, mum, aunt).

A relevant creek crossing (not all of them have data) shows it to have peaked, and started to drop a little, and with no rain it should drop fairly quickly. Problem is, "no rain" is not what we're about to get, according to the rain radar. The forecast for tomorrow though is "rain periods easing to showers", so hopefully it'll drop enough that they'll be able to find some way home.

They're lucky though, seeing as quite a few people who can't get home to the different, cut-off towns are having to spend the night in an "emergency centre" in local council buildings, and also, their house is not in the flood zone...well, not in this one anyway.

Also, the cheesecake was yummy, so we're lucky too.

I had a look at the graph and that is a lot of rain in a 24 hour period! No wonder there is flooding. I'm glad to hear they made it to your place and got some cheese cake.

There were reported parts of the Sunshine Coast (irony alert), up north-west past Cooran and Kin Kin, that got near 400mm/15.7" of rain today. Here at Noosa on the coast, we've only got 89mm/3.5" since 9am (it's 11:25pm now) though likely more tonight.

If they didn't get here, I'd have had more cheesecake, so it's not all good.

Marc, sounds like the people in your family get along ok, so even unexpected houseguests can be fun (especially if they bring cheesecake!) Hopefully this little adventure will be over quickly enough that the novelty won't have time to wear off and turn into tedium.
