When it comes to Halloween horrors, the old books I keep hoping for a re-release of are: The Manse and Torment by Cantrell and then Prank Night and Spook Night by David Robbins (who has released Hell-O-Ween as an ebook, so there's hope there).

Not that there's not already PLENTY of Halloween horror available. But I'll always take more.

I agree with you about Valencourt books. I purchased a few of these last year.

I have two wonderful collections of 80s horror novels (in ebooks) that I want to show you. I'll dig them up on calibre and show you the images.

Sure, please do.

If I'm looking at a book and wavering on the purchase, finding out it's a reprint of a previous horror paperback will always push me to buy. I have a real soft spot for those crappy vintage books.

One book I hope will go down in price is "The Halloween Tree" by Ray Bradbury. There was an animated movie made of it some yrs ago with Leonard Nimoy providing one of the character voices. Kindle US

I found them!

I bought these two ebooks a few years ago from Amazon for (I think) $2.99 each. I don't know if they're still available or not.

They're not cheezy, but rather indicative of the type of horror novels published in the 80s and 90s. Some great reading!

Those ebook novel collections aren't available anymore -- I think Crossroad Press offered them for a limited time. However, they have a more recent collection of 10 full novels for $6.99 (or free w/Kindle Unlimited). https://www.amazon.com/Tomes-Terror-...dp/B08QGHZR6H/

Novels included in this box set:

Songs of Dreaming Gods - William Meikle
Shadoweyes - Kathryn Ptacek
Wolf's Trap - Bill Gagliani
Moon Lake - Stephen Gresham
Wilding - Melanie Tem
The Nestling - Charles Grant
Manhattan Grimoire - Sandy DeLuca
Dead Time - Richard Lee Byers
Dark Avenging Angel - Catherine Cavendish
The Nightwalker - Thomas Tessier

Hey, those are nifty. And how can you not like a writer named Wednesday Lee Friday?

The newer Tomes of Terror looks very good as well, though I'm pretty sure I've picked a couple of those up as standalones.

I wasn't aware of this one.

Notice the Stephen Gresham novel. Also, Thomas Tessier is a very fine writer who is often overlooked.

And speaking of fine writers, a big 'Thank you' to writer Norman Prentiss for pointing out this collection.

The Lighthouse Keeper by Alan K. Baker is $0.99 at Amazon US.

Quote:
In December 1900, three lighthouse keepers vanished without trace from the remote Scottish island of Eilean Mor.

An emergency relief crew was sent to man the lighthouse, and at the end of their month-long duty, they resigned from their posts, never to speak of what they had experienced.

The mystery of Eilean Mor has never been solved. Until now.

In the present, a group of environmental researchers arrives to observe the wildlife. While exploring the lighthouse, now deserted, one of the team discovers a manuscript written by one of the relief keepers, a man named Alec Dalemore. As a sudden storm cuts off their escape, the researchers come to realise that Dalemore wrote the manuscript as a warning to all who would come after him -- a warning of something ancient and powerful and strange beyond imagining…

The Lighthouse Keeper is a supernatural tale based on the Flannan Isles mystery, one of the greatest unsolved enigmas in maritime history.
I'm a sucker for these types of stories and have been patiently waiting for The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex (based on the same true story, I believe) to go on sale.

Have you ever picked up a coin and wondered about its past? For four young friends, this is where the nightmare begins. In another story, a sweet romance ends in a shallow grave to be revisited again and again. In yet another tale, a girl's field hockey team has had enough of their cruel coach and her dreaded 'whistle of the damned'. How far will they go to turn the tables?

Lamplighters link updated. An = snuck in there somehow.

I'm pretty sure both books are based on the same true story. Four men disappear from a lighthouse.

Lamplighters is more 'literary' and has gotten good reviews from the pros. But customer reviews are split and the bad reviews don't seem like people disappointed it wasn't just a potboiler.

So I want to try the book, but can wait for a sale.

It’s 1998 in Hooperstown, New Jersey and people are getting sick. Some citizens blame the local chemical plant. A select few believe something far more terrifying is responsible, a dreadful force that causes nightmarish visions and aberrant illnesses. Bad things are blooming in Hooperstown, and the stench of death is growing stronger...

Midnight in the Pentagram by VA
Amazon US $0.99

Quote:
As the clock’s pendulum steadily counts down towards the midnight hour, the growing scent of brimstone hangs heavy in the air. The universal symbol of all that is evil, the pentagram, or the inverted pentacle, has been carved in the hardwood floor. Its shape is often described as the goat of lust attacking the Heavens with its horns during the witches’ sabbat. Five obsidian candles flicker as the incantations begin. Who will be summoned during this unholy evening? Will it be Baphomet? Or Belial? Maybe even Lucifer himself? The roof timbers groan. Stressed plaster drops to the floor. The demon approaches, holding its ancient grimoire filled with evil stories, written in blood…and here they are.

For some kids, Long Lake, Georgia is home. But for fourteen-year-old Baker Gray, it’s just another stop, another town in another state. Because of his mother’s nomadic lifestyle, he’s never had a best friend, never kissed a girl, and he’s certainly never met anyone like Cassandra Larsson—the enigmatic, older girl whose idea of fun blurs the line between right and wrong.Being hopelessly led by emotions he’s never felt, Baker finds himself plodding along dark paths paved by the girl he thinks he may love—a road to self-destruction, where vigilante justice is encouraged and bloodshed is an art form.
