I'd guess that qualifying is based on analytics designed to predict how much additional profit they can extract from you by giving you the offer.

I received both rewards (almost up to 400) and the $25/500. So I got one book already (never goes on sale) and trying to decide on the second book. Fafhrd and Grey Mouser put me up and over; otherwise rest of books were on deep discount from my author list.

I got an email early this morning that there's double points on book purchases today only. I'm 65 points short of another $4 coupon, so I'm seriously considering finding a way to spend $6.50 or more on ebooks today.

A query: All of a sudden, I have over 800 points. I don’t know why, but anyway (I’m going to wait a day to see if it readjusts.) My question is, can I use 800 points, i.e., $8, on a single book, or is it $4 per transaction?

You can use them all. Just make sure the credits are there before you buy. Took about 20 minutes the last time.

Had my first official snafu. I was told it was a double point day for me on my page. I went to a series page and clicked buy all. I did not get double points after waiting three days. Buy books individually.

Amazon refused to acknowledge the promotion and wanted comprehensive proof and for me to jump through a lot of hoops. They lost my $55 over 260 points.

I’ve found the “score-keeping” Byzantine throughout this program. Most recently, I also was shorted on points for purchases, but I’m not going to pursue it. Similarly, had I gotten all those points, I would have rounded up to the next 400 point benchmark for the last time, but now it’s too big an outlay to justify. So those are purchases foregone, in addition to the last use of a $4 coupon where I would have spent over $4.

Oh, well. Overall, I feel as if I’ve come out ahead. As has Amazon, of course; it always does. Mostly I advanced purchases that I planned to make anyway, but no doubt I wouldn’t have got around to at least some of them.

I completely agree. I appreciate the program and hope they make improvements for future iterations. I did get an E-mail saying a technical specialist would review the case. I hope my frustrations can prevent future hassle for others.

Edit: Got an email acknowledging the error tonight and that my points were updated. Many thanks to the stonewalling rep who was hasty and adamant the only solution was to refund the titles.

Well, I managed to reach 400 points, on the nose (350 of them were freebies), and got the $4 credit. Which, I'm disgusted to learn, will expire in just over a week, on September 29. Geez, Amazon, thanks for giving me so much time!

I guess I buy too damn much. I reached 400 points twice and am currently at 161.

I reached 1200 points and got 3 $4 credits. I've spent most of them already. Most of my points were free or when they did double points.
