You can't downgrade Kindles, though it works with a Kobo, without some sort of jailbreak. Some versions FW / models can't be jailbroken.

I absolutely, utterly LOATHE this update.
I even tried resetting and losing my data in a last ditch effort to revert it. Is there ANY way to undo it? It's made my favorite device unusable. I'll have to buy a new one second-hand and keep it in airplane mode if I can't undo this. It's completely dishonest for them to force this cr*p on us and not let us revert it... Is there any way to revert the update? I'm not rich enough to be buying a new device... ![]() Last edited by mobilis; 09-14-2021 at 12:57 AM. Reason: typo |

I have one other Kindle (used to read stuff on my sister's account.). It's a regular Kindle, nothing fancy. The kind they used to put on sale for fifty dollars once or twice a year. Is there any way to manually delete the WiFi settings to prevent it auto updating? I don't trust airplane mode. Do you think there's any possibility of someone cracking how to revert my updated one?? |

What is it about this update that you so object to? After using it for a short time I realized that if I stay away from the Home screen it really is not that much different than the prior version.

Yeah, I like it for the most part... Reading some comments one may think this is a tablet instead of an e-reader... How much time do you spend in the home screen and menus?

It's the same attitude as the Windows 11 start menu. When you disable the recommended apps in the start menu, you don't get more room for your favorite shortcuts. You'll get empty space. It's beyond stupid. Last edited by Sirtel; 09-15-2021 at 05:34 PM. |

I suspect that the reason for having fewer books per screen is that it is an intermediate step toward having cover thumbnails appear in list view. That was shown by Amazon to be coming to Kindles later this year.

Oh well. I guess I'll have to live with these updates eventually. Still, it feels good to rant about them. ![]() ![]() |

So I had to buy a book that was only available for Kindle (6 mb azw), the first - at probably last - book I bought since the 5.13.7 update. It's been stuck as "unindexed" for a couple of days now, draining my PW battery. Why doesn't Amazon fix bugs instead of changing things for the sake of change?
