Hi, I wanted to ask if there is any chance you'll include https://www.novelhall.com/ into the list of sites for this app!!
Thank you, be well, Monica |

I can confirm using the FFDL cache is much faster; usually Calibre locks up for 30 seconds-2 minutes as it digs through the cache, even if I empty it beforehand. With FFDL that took less than 10.

You have been nice enough to help me with this. Can I ask for your help again? I've been working with the workaround using the cashe steps. It's a pain. Is this new way faster/more like the way we used to update stories? I have found I just have to get the first chapter then any updated chapters together. Then it updates. It gets time-consuming. I would love to be able to not have to do that. But I'm ok doing it the same way if any of this makes sense.
Thank you for any help you can give me. |

Question:
Just out of curiosity, I wanted to see if browser_cache_path:%LocalAppData%\fanficdownloader \cache\QtWebEngine\Default\Cache (which is it's a valid Windows path!) would work. Unfortunately I got Code:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre_plugins.fanficfare_plugin.dialogs", line 1396, in accept File "calibre_plugins.fanficfare_plugin.fff_util", line 48, in test_config File "D:\AppData\calibre\plugins\FanFicFare.zip\fanficfare\configurable.py", line 911, in test_config File "configparser.py", line 859, in items File "configparser.py", line 859, in <listcomp> File "configparser.py", line 855, in <lambda> File "configparser.py", line 395, in before_get File "configparser.py", line 442, in _interpolate_some configparser.InterpolationSyntaxError: '%' must be followed by '%' or '(', found: '%LocalAppData%\\fanficdownloader\\cache\\QtWebEngine\\Default\\Cache' |

![]() You can try doing %%LocalAppData%%, but I don't know if it will work. Nor do I plan to recommend it even if it does work. Introducing another level of abstraction is nice in theory, but I don't want to have to explain it. |

I just wanted to chime in and say the fanfictiondownloader cache method is working well for me too.
I do have a question, if anyone has experience here. How big is the cache? How long does it last? I have a list of a few fic updates (maybe 20ish) that I have been saving from ffn until I could import them to my Calibre library. Is the best workflow doing it one at a time in the downloader, and then go to Calibre or can I do multiple fics in the downloader and they will work in Calibre with the plugin doing multiple links at once? Thanks! |

I don't know about a specific work flow, I'm not actually using FFDL for this myself. |

Hello! I had a pretty specific question.
I edited the adapter_archiveofourownorg.py file so I could get my subscription data for stories. Here's what I added: Code:
self.story.setMetadata('subscribed', None != metasoup.find('form',id=re.compile(r'^edit_subscription_'))) In personal.ini, I can't use it with commands like include_subject_tags, add_to_replace_metadata, include_in_, even though eg. 'bookmarked' or 'restricted' work perfectly. What am I missing here? |

Note that there's now a helpful tutorial (including pictures) for using FFDL's cache:

By the way, thanks for figuring out the FFDL method. I've been neglecting my FF.net library because it seemed too complicated to update it, but this feels pretty doable. 🤗 |

Hmm. I noticed after Fanfiction.net started blocking download it started working again around March/April (I think?). Regardless I've been able to update using FFF on fanfiction.net until I would say today/yesterday. My last successful update was on Sunday the 12th for a few fics. Seems the cloudflare errors have returned.
Though from some casual browsing it seems it was still blocked for everyone else and never got better and I just now joined the party? Just a general FYI I suppose Last edited by Mandabar; 09-16-2021 at 12:51 AM. |
