Two of 3 books of a roman trilogy (3rd book not out yet) by Douglas Jackson

1. Caligula $.99 Amazon only
2. Claudius $.99 Amazon only

Historical fiction set in ancient Rome. I have his first series (Gaius Varleris Verrins) but haven't read it yet, so no idea on quality of author. Reviews from Amazon say book 2 was better with superb battle scenes.

Have you read the sequel, BelleZora? And if so, do you recommend it? I greatly enjoyed the first, but sometimes you’re best off leaving it at that. And it’s expensive.

This is a wonderful book; in fact, it's so wonderful that I just bought the sequel for $6.21, from Kobo [UK].

I look forward to reading it, but after I finish about 15-20 other books that were already lined up.

Thanks. That’s good enough for me - I’ll take a look at GR but I’ve no doubt I’ll agree.

I get it, that authors are in a business and need to capitalize on what they can, but I can’t help feeling that a first book (or planned trilogy, sometimes) is tarnished by later inferior works. But when it puts groceries on the table and it’s not great literature in any case….

[I do wish Harper Lee had stuck to her guns. She didn’t need the groceries.]
