I bought a Kindle Touch 10th gen with FW - 5.13.4 out of the box. Initials of the Serial Number are G090
Screen size - 6"
Body - Black
Country of origin - China
Bought in - India
Is it possible to jailbreak it?

I have a kindle oasis (KOA2) with firmware 5.9.2.0.1. According to the first post I have to be at 5.10.3 or later (not too later). I have long had the file on my oasis that prevents updating. How do I update the firmware, while controlling the process so I don’t get 5.12.x (evil) installed? Is there a preferred firmware in my range.

BTW, my wife’s PW3 is 5.9.6.1. That puts her in my situation too.

@jangell2: You should be able to sideload the update manually, regardless of the OTA blocking mechanism. (i.e., just copy the .bin at the USB root and eject, it'll get picked up automatically).

(Fair warning: I haven't updated a Kindle in years, I may be misremembering things ;p).

If your wife prefers to stay at 5.9.6.1 she can jailbreak her PW3 by folloing the instructions in this thread:

hello everyone,

I accidentally updated my kindle pw4 to 5.13.7, fortunately the jailbreak survived. However yesterday I found that there is some problem of the Traditional Chinese fonts (not a big problem, just the position of the comma and full stop), I tried to fix it but failed. stupidly I done a factory reset tried to solve the problem. in the end the problem didn't solve and the worst thing is that the jailbreak has also been gone....
I noticed that you cannot install the hotfix in firmware 5.13.7. is there still anyway to bring back the jailbreak ...?

My "Update your kindle" option is completely greyed out, is it possible to install the JB Hotfix via MRPI, or am I SOL?

I had to factory reset because my library was corrupted and was filled with undeletable books.

Reboot twice, then try again via UYK.

Unfortunately, no matter how many times I reboot/force reboot by holding the power button for a long time, the "Update your kindle" option remains greyed out. Also went through the thread, but the files are long gone, so I'm SoL on that end.

MRPI seems to have been able to install both he JB hotfix and the KUAL hotfix, as I can see in the log here:

@chpoit: You're not supposed to be able to use the "UYK" option for anything else than the hotfix.

You've also failed to mention which FW version you're running, and how old the packages you're using are (and you've elided the MRPI logs, so I can't tell from that either).

To let you know, I now updated koreader while there is already a new update available for the Kindle, and the used counter measures seem to work. The firmware has not been updated and Kual and koreader are still working.

If I bought a brand new kindle paperwhite, (september 2021) would I be able to jailbreak it?

Or will the firmware be too new on it? If it's unjailbreakable I'll just sell it.. so I'd like to know without opening the sealed packaging. Many thanks!

i want to jailbaraik my device, should i upgrade to 5.9.6.1 or 5.10.3-5.13.3? please tell me the exact version i should upgrade to
after doing all the steps in this thread should i stay or update to a certain version? i want to activate wifi without worrying about auto-updates.

5.10.3 is the last version where all the update blockers work including the simple update.bin.tmp.partial folder.
