Automatic Metadata merging
Kinda interesting question, when doing a mass metadata download would it be possible to add a feature to auto merge data where the title and author info match what is already on the record? Would allow for updating records and only review data where the title/author have a miss-match.
Thanks |

Or would it be possible to add an option to compare each field and then either outline or fill the background of the field if they matched?

There is already a review metadata button that lets you compare fields.

I know that, what I was referring to was an easy way to flag changed fields. When using the metadata review visually flagging fields that either match or were changed (with a color) allows for quicker and easier human review. After updating and reviewing 200 metadata changes manually comparing the fields is prone to higher rates of human error. (Not recognizing changed fields) Being able to either use a red/green field background or outlining (similar to what is done in the title, title sort) would be a big boon.

Take a look at the attached markup, in this simple example, the fields that match/are not being modified during the metadata refresh are outlined in green.

changed fields are marked by their titles being bold and italic. I find that quite sufficient.

Kovid
Would it be possible to have the arrow have the ability to Block the autofill of a blank (left side) field. Currently if it is blank, it auto copies on save without an arrow click |

You want to erase the existing metadata and leave it blank?

Existing (some fields) is already blank, The right side (is wrong) and I don't want it to auto fill JUST that field.
This is only an issue when Left is blank and right is wrong ![]() |

Use the clear button on the right side field in that case
