Alternative Cover

Hello, I have an Elipsa, and I am happy with it with one (heavy) exception, the Kobo cover.
Besides the colour, which I can live with (I would prefer black, but it is not the foremost problem), it is the weight which I do not like. I believe I have seen other expressing the same feeling.
But I can't seem to find an alternative lighter cover, with a book - like opening too.

Does anybody have a suggestion ?

Bruno

The description just says they are lightweight, which is not much. I’ll ask the manufacturer. They will be available in Europe too quite soon.
Oddly, the two items seem to share a number of pictures.

Thanks again a lot.

A sleeve is rather useless. There's no protection once the sleeve is off.

It all depends on what you want. It could be perfect protection if you are only concerned about protecting it during transportation and then having it light and free whilst in use.

Remember, "useless" is a very strong word when not everyone has the same uses as you.

And, the cover is going to be useless for protection if you are actually using the device. The cover will be open and if you drop it, the cover will not protect the device. If anything, it will make damage more likely as it probably doubles the weight of the device. As they say, "the bigger they are, the harder they fall".

I use or have used sleeves for most of my devices--iPads, readers, phones, etc. Open top sleeves are the most prone to having the device slip out and fall. This has happened to me yet it hasn't dampened my preference for the sleeve as the most convenient and lightest of options, which is what I look for. This item is an envelope and very light.

I can say that with every Reader I've used, a good case makes the Reader nicer/easier to hold.

I agree that a good case makes reading more enjoyable. I find the Elipsa's cover a bit too heavy for other than sitting upright with the reader propped up by a pillow or other support. I'm going to try coverless. We'll see. Other than weight, the Elipsa cover is quite nice and I have no other issues with it.

And I disagree. The cover makes them different to hold. But, on the occasions I have taken the devices out of the covers, I am reminded about how light and sleek they are. And I have no issues with the feeling of the backs or surrounding of any of my devices. The main reason I use the covers is for when I am not using my devices. If I was only going to use them in the house, I'm not sure if I would bother with a cover.

Davidfor, I believe it is a matter of personal taste and reading habit. I read either sitting down or in bed so the chances of the earead dropping down are very small, and a cover is a good compromise, because I am conversely much more afraid of bumping the reader on some pointed surface (tables' edges, for example). I already lost my first ereader (one of the first Bookeen, more than 10 years ago), due to cracks to the screen substrate.
I find the Kobo furnished Elipsa cover really heavy. Surely a matter of personal tastes and reading habits.
