My freebie acquisition has also slowed down from when I started collecting ebooks ten years ago. Back then, there were a lot more available, usually first in a series. I'm also more selective now. I'm not really counting them in my TBR list.

I count the freebies the same as samples. If they don't grab me pretty quick, they get deleted.

I suspect their data mining told them so. And from all these ultra cheap e-book offers I put into my basket. So Amazon thinks I am buying the e-books for a company?

Anyway it is probably a sign to cut back on the whole buying thing.

I'm getting spammed by Amazon Business emails. I really don't know if they're genuine ones mistakenly ending up in the spambox, or some really professional-looking phishing attempt.

I've stopped getting samples unless something really, really interests me and is on sale that day. I've got an Amazon wish list for samples that I set up for books on pre-order status (because I never pre-order unless I'm following a series) and I've started putting them on that list now.

I'm getting better. I bought 3 books in August. However, I only read 2 books, so it's not quite going in the right direction yet.

I bought four in August. But I read eleven. And I discarded nine freebies. A very good month. My TBR is down to 807!

I've managed to only grab 2 freebies in this entire month.

And I reduced my wishlist some 4-5 books by borrowing them from Overdrive instead.

I've bought just 2 books this month, the most recent a 3-book Maisie Dobbs bookset that netted me beaucoup bonus points at Kobo.

I bought only 4 ebooks in August (acquired 9 freebees) and zero audiobooks. As you know, this is HUGE for me. I don't think I've bought so few books in a month since 2018. It was hard, so I know I need to continue to work on this.

Note: I don't count freebees in my TBR unless bought with an Amazon credit.

We packed our 900+ physical library last weekend in preparation for our move. I plan to buy 2 more before the move is complete, but they will both be read immediately.

I only keep one book index, though many of the physical books were purchased by my wife. Our arrangement has always been, since the days I worked 70 hour weeks, that she could buy whatever books she wanted. I think having to pack and move 900 books might temper her purchases for at least a few months.

Not that I wish it on her but when your wife develops arthritis, she will likely choose to move to an ereader. That was the development point for both my late sister and Mom even though they preferred paper. For my other sister, it's a space issue. My new BIL is a voracious reader but prefers his phone over an ereader. As he moves all his stuff from his former home to their home, he is looking at selling/donating most of his books as they don't fit so well in a little house.
