				Rotation Improved?

One benefit I'm noting of this latest software -- on my Forma -- is that the rotation seems to work more reliably and easily. It used to take a bit of exaggerated and deliberate turning if the device woke up wrong way up; but now it switches to the right orientation quickly and with a minimum of fussing. Of course, I don't know if my orientation vectors were messed up on the prior firmware or whether this firmware actually holds any improvements. Regardless, I am very grateful to be able to see the percentage of battery power left without having to leave the book I'm reading. Big improvement! |

Oh well, logging out of dropbox and re-linking made it work fine again. | |

I still can't see the battery percentage while I'm in a book. I must go back to the home page, as in previous firmware versions. Is this because I'm using an Elipsa and firmware 4.28.18220 is not really meant for the Elipsa? I really, REALLY want to see the battery percentage remaining without going back to the home page. Should I just be patient and hope the next firmware release for the Elipsa catches up?

Just seeking clarification on the patch situation. The following are all the patches I had enabled in 4.26.16704 Quote:

Yes, all of those will work. And, just update the version in kobopatch.yaml.

Aha. I am reading sideloaded kepubs on an Elipsa, but I prefer my own rubber-tipped stylus because I don't use the Elipsa for notetaking--just reading. I'm not a big fan of yet another piece of equipment that needs a battery. So I dug out the included stylus and put the battery in it, and, voila! I can see the battery percentage from within the book. Sigh. Oh, well. I hope Kobo decides to implement checking the battery within the book for all of their ereaders.

If they implement it for all of their ereaders, I wouldn't need the special stylus. I doubt there is anything magical about allowing access to the battery meter from within a book rather than requiring access from the home screen. So I can hope.

Is anybody else having trouble with connecting via USB since this update? The connect button comes up but then it just... doesn't connect sometimes. It's such a spotty problem though and hard to troubleshoot; it doesn't help that I couldn't find a spare microUSB in my big box o' cables. But I did some testing and the cable works perfectly well with other devices and actually charges the Aura HD even when it's not connecting. That and the fact that the issues only started after the update make me wonder if there's something going on with the firmware rather than a physical issue with the cable or device. I was noticing trouble connecting via USB since this update, too. I changed cables yesterday, and so far have had a problem, meaning it might have been a wonky cable ... but it's an interesting coincidence that both @ownedbycats and me had similar problems after the update.

My experience has been the opposite. Since the update I have not had a single instance of "there is problem with this device", which was automatic and appeared basically every single time I connected my Libra to my PC over the last few months.

I think the improvements in USB connectivity were for the newer devices (kobo7 hardware). I'm dubious that even the kobo6 hardware benefited. Looking at their device lists, I suspect that only the Clara HD would qualify (at least my Clara HD and Forma now connect happily to a USB 3 port on my laptop that previously would only charge).
