[MacOS] Adding multiple books

All you have to do is open calibre right click add books select add from folder and sub-folders:


Answer yes:

Select the folder that has the books you want to add Press ok:

calibre will add all the book formats from that folder and all sub folders.


Tested using calible 5.25 on a Linux Mint 20.2 system.

Thank you. That is what I have been doing. The problem is 1. I can only select 1 author folder at a time and 2. there are folders that have .epub files in them that are not being recognized. Calibre is telling me that there are no books to be found.

@beachin - Firstly, I have altered the thread title to indicate you're using MacOS, hopefully that will attract someone with calibre on a Mac.

Most likely those are not actual epub files but folders with a .epub suffix on their names, commonly created by iTunes.

It is not happening on all folders (acting as if they were empty)
I haven't tried selecting the main folder yet as there are over 2k digital files. I am going to try that as a last resort. Last resort only because I won't know what doesn't get added if I do that many at once.

I have never heard of iTunes doing that before. That is interesting.
I don't put my ebooks in iTunes though. Just audio.

To know whether the problem is with your books or elsewhere, roll back to the last calibre version that you said was working for you. You can find older calibre versions in the link. If you roll back to the version you said was working OK and still have problems adding books, chances are the problems are related to your books.

How do I find out when those versions were released? I have no idea if I ever updated or when I would have updated the program.

In my humble opinion it would've worthwhile examining the folders being added to see what exactly they contain.

On windows I'd suggest opening a command prompt, changing to the directory I was attempting to use and doing a dir /s to see all the contents.

On a Mac I presume it would be opening a terminal and doing a ls -l
