Puget Sound is being hit with smoke from the wildfires in British Columbia and California. That just compounds the problem we're having with our current heat wave (high 90's). A cold front moving in on Sunday will blow it it out and improve both the temperatures (mid to high 70's) and air quality for next week. So I plan to stay inside until then.

Huge thunderstorms with lots of lightning & thunder - shook the house several times. Lights flickered but stayed on. Cats under the bed. Torrential rain - probably saved the lawn.

Do your computers have a heavy duty surge suppressor or a decent quality UPS protecting them? One friend of mine in Chicago has gotten to the point where his response to thunderstorms is to unplug his computer equipment.

That's what I do when there's a lot of lightning. I've got high end surge protectors, but when the house shakes, I unplug!

Today will be warm, 26C and mostly sunny. Hopefully it won't be too humid, because we're going to start clearing the yard of weeds, vines and ferns and because of the stinging nettles and thorned vines we'll have to wear thicker clothes and shirts with long sleeves.

From tomorrow it'll be cooler for a couple of days, 17-20C.

Another stormy afternoon - plenty of lightning & thunder. Cats are getting used to it - not as severe today - just continual rumbling.

It was a beautiful day, today. The high temperature was 84°F with the dew point in the 60s and a good breeze. It almost felt like late September. After almost a week in the high nineties with dew points in the high 70s, it was a very welcome change!

Even as late as last night the forecast called for a chance of scattered thunderstorms, but it looks like they're all skirting past us just to the south.

Hurricane Henri (now a Tropical Storm, I believe) is edging past us. We had a few hours of torrential rain last night, then a brief break in the morning. We've had a steady -- and steadily increasing -- rain all day, which should reach another downpour tonight. Fortunately, we're not getting very strong winds. At least, not yet.

The ground is pretty much still saturated from our previous rains, so more rain will bring floods, but strong winds would uproot trees.
