Hello! I apologize if this has already been posted, i couldn't find it in my search.
I have calibre on my main computer and it works perfectly, so i also downloaded it onto my laptop. I noticed though that when i convert books to pdf, it says it was successful and has the added file format of pdf. But when i save it to disk it always saves it as a opf. I thought maybe it could still work but the file is mostly just data from the conversion it seems like. I think i must be doing something wrong, but i'm not sure what specifically. I am attaching screenshots, of the book in calibre, the book in my documents after saving to disk, and the view of the opf document using google drive since i couldn't find an app that could read it on my computer. |

That OPF is the Backup of the Calibre Metadata (as entered).
The cover is what you see in CALIBRE It looks like your Conversion might have failed as there is NO PDF in that folder. ?? Can you View the HTML with Calibres viewer (simply tap 'V' with the book selected)?? |

Save To Disc is for EXTERNAL (to Calibre) saves.
Add Books is how you copy a download INTO Calibre Note: Some books are delivered DRM infested. Apprentice Alf is your friend (MR rules prevent us from further help in removing that blight) |

Is there a chance that when you click on the download icon for the pdf, that Vivaldi is saving it as a .pdf.html? If so, what happens when you rename it to filename.pdf? I seem to remember other web browsers doing similar idiocies in the past.

@harrisontate - the first image in the first post only shows PDF (conversion output), I would also expect to see the format you converted - e.g. if you bought it at Amozon, one of the proprietary Kindle formats.
You might want to try replacing the Vivaldi web browser as the default PDF reader with a something like Foxit or pdf xChange. BR |

I checked that again and when i save it it saves it as a .pdf only. For some reason once I go to the download itself in my files is when it appears as the .pdf.html even though i didn't save it as that when i can choose how to "save as"

I'm suspicious of the 'all' the "File formats to save" field. I have it blank, and a save to disk action will save all formats I have for a book. FWIW I would suggest your settings should be something like this: BR |
