Sorry to hear about your mom...I (and my husband) are hitting the same place with our parents, and it can be stressful. Hope she gets better soon!

I won't be posting as much for the next few weeks. My Mom (age: 87) cracked her heel stepping off the last rung of a stepstool, so now I'm caregiver for 2 people. I have my sister's help for a few days though. On the positive side, Mom said she can now cross ambulance ride off her bucket list.

Two-and-a-half years later, $1.99 again. Links are still good.

If you missed it two years ago at $1.99, it's now $2.99 at Kindle and Kobo US, which is still pretty good, considering its normal price of $8.99 and up. Links are still good.

Cat to the Dogs is the fifth in the Joe Grey series by Shirley Rousseau Murphy. It's on sale right now for $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Along with Rita Mae Brown's Mrs. Murphy series, this is one of the earlier "cozy talking pet" mystery series that I remember - always excepting Lilian Jackson Braun's "Cat Who" series which started even a few decades earlier than these. I read several of the Joe Grey titles in DTB from my library back when, and liked them, although I've never quite gotten back into the series in e-book.

Spoiler:
Quote:
A recent earthquake was only the beginning of the big trouble that plagues Molena Point, California. Joe Grey may be merely a cat, but he's already solved more murders than your average human detective, and he knows the "accident" on Hellhag Hill was anything but. Unfortunately Joe's somewhat erratic, if lovable, owner Clyde thinks cats should keep their paws out of police work, and locks Joe and his feline lady friend Dulcie out of the house when Officer Max Harper pays a social call.

But Joe can be a very stubborn tomcat when he sets his mind to it. And he's not about to give up the hunt. A killer needs to be apprehended, and Joe Grey's just the cat for the job -- especially since the humans who should be on the case don't seem to have a clue.

Full of the rich detail of New York's teeming immigrant community and the colorful historical personalities of the age, For the Love of Mike is the triumphant third installment in Rhys Bowen's Agatha Award-winning series.

Molly Murphy is starting to think the cards are stacked against her. She's determined to be a private detective, but hampering her investigations is the fact that she's finding many places in turn-of-the-century New York City where women are not welcome, something that's as frustrating to her fiery Irish pride as it is to her rapidly emptying pocketbook.

Then two business opportunities pop up simultaneously. An aristocratic family in Dublin fears their daughter has fled to the New World with her unsavory boyfriend, and they hire Molly to track the two down and send the young woman back home. Before she has time to consider her good luck, she's asked to go undercover as a piece worker in the garment business and investigate a potential case of industrial espionage. Now if she can only solve both cases without the help of Daniel Sullivan, the police captain who claims he loves her but who is engaged to someone else...

A Savage Place is the eighth in Robert B. Parker's classic Spenser series. It's on sale for $2.99 right now at Kindle and Kobo US. Per eReaderIQ, it hasn't been less than $5.93 since 2011, so I'd grab it now if you want it!

TV reporter Candy Sloan has eyes the color of cornflowers and legs that stretch all the way to heaven. She also has somebody threatening to rearrange her lovely face if she keeps on snooping into charges of Hollywood racketeering.

Spenser's job is to keep Candy healthy until she breaks the biggest story of her career. But her star witness has just bowed out with three bullets in his chest, two tough guys have doubled up to test Spenser's skill with his fists, and Candy is about to use her own sweet body as live bait in a deadly romantic game--a game that may cost Spenser his life.

The Sicilian Method is the next-to-next-to last in Andrea Camilleri's Inspector Montalbano series. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. A bit odd for it to drop in price in the US before briefly going to £0.99 in the UK, but maybe eReaderIQ (and I) just missed it. Anyway, here it is, on sale, shortly before the last title, Riccardino, comes out in English in September.

Spoiler:
Quote:
In the new novel in the transporting New York Times bestselling Inspector Montalbano mystery series, Montalbano finds his answers to a murder in a theatrical play

Mimi Augello is visiting his lover when the woman's husband unexpectedly returns to the apartment; he climbs out the window and into the downstairs apartment, but one danger leads to another. In the dark he sees a body lying on the bed. Shortly after, another body is found, and the victim is Carmelo Catalanotti, a director of bourgeois dramas with a harsh reputation for the acting method he developed for his actors.

Are the two deaths connected? Catalanotti scrupulously kept notes and comments on all the actors he worked with, as well as strange notebooks full of figures and dates and names. Inspector Montalbano finds all of Catalanotti's dossiers and plays, the notes on the characters, and the notes on his last drama, Dangerous Turn--the theater is where he'll find the answer.

Tag Man is the 22nd in Archer Mayor's Joe Gunther series, a nice police procedural series that I've enjoyed in the past. It has dropped to $2.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004RCNS7E
Kindle US/Smile: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B004RCNS7E

Spoiler:
Quote:
"Archer Mayor's Vermont police procedurals are the best thing going..." --New York Times Book Review

Across Brattleboro, Vermont, rich people (some with dark secrets) are waking up in their high security, alarm-equipped homes to find a Post-it note stuck to their bedside tables reading, "You're it." There is little sign of disturbance anywhere, nothing stolen (that anyone admits,) and only a bit of expensive food eaten as a signature. The Press loves the story and dubs the burglar the Tag Man.

But who is he? And what's he actually doing? In fact, he's quickly running for his life, for what he discovers in one of these houses appears to be proof of a heinous string of murders. But is it? Joe Gunther, struggling to recover from a devastating personal loss, leads his VBI team to untangle the many conflicting pieces of evidence, while the burglar himself struggles for survival in the no-man's-land between the police and the villains. With no one knowing what to believe, or who to trust, with Tag Man running for his life in a way he never imagined possible, as no one knows who's watching as they sleep, or who truly did what, the Tag Man is critically acclaimed author Archer Mayor at his very finest.
