Sorry, I misread your question at first. I can’t remember which model it was. I think it was a Glo HD It was a few years ago. After that experience I pulled away from Kobo and stuck with Kindle. Both my current Kobo’s came from Argos this year. Both of them are not the first model I bought, luckily my local Argos’s are quite good with returns.

I bought an Aura One directly from Kobo and it had horrible lighting, they replaced it (had me pay for shipping) and after a month of waiting for the first one to get there and the replacement to get to me I was sad to see I had another bummer of a screen. Decided to just deal with it cause I liked the device. Then the screen broke from some light pressure when I was wiping the screen down 2 months later and they wouldn’t return it since broken screens aren’t covered in their 1 year warranty. My 1st gen paperwhite still works and my Voyage has been my main ever since.
I wanna try the forma but that whole experience left me with a little purchasing ptsd lol |

I'm a little confused. You said they wouldn't return it? Did they give you some sort of credit, instead, because they kept it? I have an Aura One and it's great. The screen, however, will never compare to my Kindle Voyage. It IS close to my Kindle Oasis (2019 edition) - my current main reader. I do, however, switch back and forth between the three when I want to vary my reading experience. |

That explanation makes sense.

I finally got a Forma. I bought it from Amazon ironically. I’m very happy with it. The screen isn’t perfect but it’s no better or worse than my Clara HD or Libra. Power Button is very stiff, more to turn on than turn off, but I have it in a sleep case so hopefully everything will be fine. I have a free three year warranty on it from my Credit Card that also covers accidental damage from day one so I’m all set now for hours of enjoyable reading.

I've joined the Forma Wow! camp.
I bit on the recent sale, purchased mine from Amazon as well. I love the device. I have my Aura One which I've always thought had a nice screen, but the Forma screen is actually better! It's not 100% even, I can detect a degree of shadowing on all four sides of the screen and on the button side, there is an area of SLIGHTLY lighter and more blue tint, but this only shows in some lighting conditions, but mostly is completely invisible. I'd say the evenness of the lighting is a notch or two below my Kindle Oasis 2, but it's still pretty darn good! The power button is indeed, very stiff, but I always get a sleep cover. One thing sure, the power button is not likely to get worn out, because it won't get used often! And with the Dropbox access, neither will the USB port get as much use. I was worried that the more square shape with the large screen would be a problem to hold, but it hasn't been. I think I still prefer the Aura One in that regard, but the Forma is fine. I don't use the buttons much, as they are rather widely spaced and not a great fit for me. But nice to have the option when reading left-handed while dining. The one bit I'm not 100% sure about is the rubberized strip where the buttons are. Don't know how that'll hold up over time. Usually, my devices look new, even after years of use, but that strip looks like it could eventually scratch or absorb finger oil or something that would make the reader look more *used*, which I wouldn't like so much. But so far, so good. |
