I think that at this point it really doesn't matter. Unless you happen to be reading all day long, your device should last weeks. I would buy a reader based on other features, not based on the battery life.

Even screen lighting is also important to me and I'll be trying to figure that one out as well. |

Update that possibly could help anyone seeking info on the battery life, as I was ......
I ended up ordering an Oasis per Black Friday deal. I found the battery life to be poor, draining pretty dramatically over 2-3 days with relatively limited use. Additionally, the Oasis I received had uneven screen lighting. It was not dramatic but I found it noticeable and it detracted from the reading experience. I returned the Oasis. This Prime Day I got a new Paperwhite. While I prefer the amber lighting on the Oasis to the bluish lighting on the PW, this PW screen is very evenly lit with no discernible hot or cold spots. I expected to miss the page turn buttons, but so far I'm getting along fine with the touch screen. The battery life on the PW seems to not be nearly as good as it was on my Kindle Keyboard when it was new. I use the light about half the time and I'm surprised at how quickly the battery drains -- but it lasts much better than the Oasis. So for my use I prefer the PW. |

No idea what's wrong with all those Oases and their poor battery life. Mine have never drained in 2-3 days, either the Oasis 2017 or the Oasis 2019. And I always have the light on. I don't use wifi, though.

I agree that it is a peculiar situation. There certainly is a lot to like about the Oasis. |

My 2017 Oasis has dismal battery life. I read fast, use a larger font, an during the day the light is all the way up unless I am outside. I also use the Kindle often during the day, so it is waked up and put to sleep often. I get maybe 15 hours of usable battery life, and the battery drains quickly after it gets below 20%.
It's not a big deal for me, I plug it in every 2-4 days overnight. If the screen light was brighter on my 2019 Paperwhite, I would use it more, and don't think I would buy another Oasis. It's best feature for me is the auto-rotate, but I am not crazy about the form factor and do not use the buttons and would not miss them if they were gone. IMO the Oasis is too expensive for what it offers. The screen lighting is great. My perfect e-reader screen would be about 4.5" x 6.5", taller and narrow, more like a paperback book. No buttons, with a .75" bezel on the sides, and .5" top and bottom bezels. |

I concur with this. When compared to what phones and tablets can do in 2021, the Oasis (and the PW, for that matter) seem overpriced for what they can, and cannot, do. But obviously the market (me included!) supports their current price points.

I don't compare my kindles with my iPhone and iPads. I love reading on e-ink, especially in a dark bedroom. I don't mind that e-readers are single use, because for me for reading, they are the correct tool.
I don't care for the Fire tablets. I had several during the early years, but once I tried an iPad, I never looked back to android. While I have no experience with current Fire tablets, the last ones I had were glitchy, undependable, and way more trouble than they were worth. |

I have all three, from the way I use an ereader, I rank them in terms of battery life from best to worse: Libra H20>PW>Oasis, with the Kobo and PW being fairly close and the Oasis a distant 3rd place.

I want to say you should get a Libra, as it offers buttons, water proofing and amber lighting. So everything you miss on the Oasis, with better battery life.
On the other hand, you already have the Paperwhite and like it. A bird in the hand and all that... |

I was unhappy with the battery life on the Oasis, so I tested it using the conditions that Amazon stated in the fine print. It passed. Unfortunately I if you increased the screen brightness and turned on WiFi, it degraded significantly. I have been much happier with the Kobo Forma battery life, but I have never completed a formal test to quantify any differences.

For Eink screens, when reading, it's more the number of page flips that runs down the battery.

Same good experience as yours, with an Oasis 2 with 3G and wi-fi kept off except for minutes at a time when I have some article being sent to my kindle. I expected horrible battery life, but my seat-of-the-pants observation is it's fine like all my other e-readers when they were relatively new.
