42° (107.6° F). It's too damn warm. And this is by the water, further inland, it's even warmer.

I think the hottest I ever witnessed at my house in NC was 115 F in mid-afternoon on my deck - some years back.

News mentioned that Portland's 116 (recently) is hotter than much of Texas has ever hit. "Monahans" TX got hotter (120 in 1994). Per this article:

The hottest it has ever gotten up here (in my memory) was 103° a couple of years ago. (That's going by my memory -- it's not official.)
One of my summer jobs in college was working in a warehouse for a company that made large swimming pools, both in-ground and above-ground. The owner of the company had a reputation for being very thrifty. The building was a two story square building. The sales area was in the front center and the warehouse surrounded the sales area in a "U" shape. The sales area had to be air conditioned, of course, so there were several window air conditioners built into the walls, with the heat exhausts in the warehouse. In July and August the ground floor of the warehouse was usually above 100° and the second floor loft, where we kept the foam and plastic tubing, was usually above 120°. This afternoon, out on the deck, we hit 95° with sunny skies, high humidity, and enough of a breeze to keep it tolerable. |

Today was mostly cloudy, the predicted temperature was 26C, but we it didn't get any warmer than 23C. But it was very sticky. Just now there's a thunderstorm, a proper one, not like the couple of rumbles we had in the past few weeks. It's raining hard, hopefully it'll freshen up afterwards.

Waiting for Hurricane/TS Elsa to drop in Thursday.
Today was quite nice - warm, breezy, low humidity. Took a long walk before dinner. |

It's sunny and almost 21C, which will be the maximum temperature today. During the second half of the afternoon rain and possibly thunder is promised. Last night's showers didn't cool things down much. It just made everything humid and damp.
