Can you show us a screenshot from what you DO see? What DNSB showed is what should be expected, but perhaps the Windows 10 "HOME" flavor behaves differently.

I do see it with Windows 10 Home. It was enabled for me, and I disabled it. Thank you (and DNSB) for mentioning this.

That aside, I'm starting to think it's a Calibre issue since it ejected twice in about 15 minutes while Calibre was running (Calibre wasn't active with the Kobo the whole time though) but then I was able to leave it plugged in all night, over night to charge with Calibre closed.

What do you see if you look at a non-Dell power plan?

The exact same options. I even tried setting up my own custom power plan and it's the same.

I did a quick search on Dell's site and ran into the following:
Lost "high performance" power profile on Venue 8 pro.

To quote the solution:

Quote:
That has something to do with connected standby settings / configuration Dell does on these units. Same is for the Venue 11 Pro MS versions. vPro units are different because no connected standby support.
If you disable connected standby all Windows power plans are displayed and all advanced power functions are available.

Use Regedit and change the below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power
Change the value of the key CsEnabled from 1 to 0 and reboot.
1 means connected standby enabled and 0 disabled.
Try it and see if it resolves your problem.

BTW: by disabling connected standby the battery display will also show the remaining time not just the percentage of battery life. :-)
If you feel comfortable editing the registry, this may help you.

Weird. The quoted text adds a non-existent space between the o and l in Control.

Well, I'd be comfortable editing a setting I can change back if needed, but there is no 'CsEnabled' key for me to change. Only one of the key's even has Cs in it and it isn't that.

Searching for it I found a microsoft forum thread about the issue. It appears that MS removed that option with update 2004, and the 20H2 update I have doesn't have it either. As this is a brand new laptop I don't really have anything to roll back to either.

Interesting since my laptop is running 21H1 and the advanced settings are there. Bringing up Windows 11 (21H2) shows the same settings available. Possibly a difference with Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home.

@DNSB Is 21H1 a newer version I can update to, or is it just for Pro?

As far as I know it is the latest update for Windows 10 all versions. If you do a manual check in Windows Update, it should be offered if your machines is in the allowed list. You might also check How to get the Windows 10 May 2021 Update for more information.

I just upgraded to 21H1 and I still don't have the USB power option, in fact there is nothing new from before...

EDIT: Finally found a way to get the USB options back. It involved editing the registry but it was a fairly simple fix. I don't know if it's the same options you guys have but I was able to disable 'USB selective suspend' so we'll see if that works.

EDIT 2: I've had the Kobo plugged in for about half an hour now and no ejecting!
