No, they have not. The Kobo Forma’s 8-inch screen has a resolution of 1440 × 1920 pixels at 300 ppi, the Elipsa’s 10.3-inch E Ink Carta 1200 touchscreen actually pushes slightly less pixels: 1404 x 1872 at 227 ppi.

Incidentally, based on the existing configuration, I can say that the product will be like all Kobo products that I have examined - just so good that it is not very obvious how badly it was developed.
That's the closest thing you have said to a reasonable statement. As the larger portion of the function is not changing, if you don't like that, then you probably won't like the rest. And we won't truly know about the new stuff until people play with it more.

Correct, I tried using it once for someone who had Mr. Burns from the Simpsons as his avatar. It was not successful. Posting frequency and obnoxiousness meant he took over the thread and was quoted endlessly.

The Kobo forum is so anarchic compared to the Kindle forum.

Anyway, when people start getting their new Elipsas, please start a nice new thread so we can hear about them without all the noise - Sturm und Drang.

What is the new 'Dark mode' feature in the reading settings? Same as 'Invert Screen'? Then why was it called differently.

Because marketing got involved Don't all systems have a "Dark mode" now?

But, hopefully it is more complete than "Invert screen". That literally just swapped the light and dark. Which meant that images would be inverted as well as text. If it is done properly, the images should also be handled better. Have any of the reviews showed the dark mode in action? I know some mentioned it, but, I don't remember seeing a screenshot.

Honestly, based on the conclusions you have posted about various things, yes, I'd like to see it. But, I don't expect you will post any proof. My interactions with Kobo about tolino devices suggested the opposite. It may have changed, but, if it did it wasn't a quick "sack everyone", but, a much slower transition.

I did not see...

I looking at what new features appeared in firmware 4.28, there are quite a few of them, including 'Dark Mode'.

I've been looking at reviews of this device and am frustrated at the lack of looking at little things, like dark mode functionality.

I have the dev mode enabled on my Forma, but yeah, it's an inversion and not an actual dark mode like what Kindle eink devices have.

I do like seeing on the Kobo help page that "Note: Images are not colour inverted." That means to me that there is some functionality built out here instead of a straight inversion.

I'm still on the fence for this device. So much so.

Install koreader, you can define gesture to switch inversion on/off, not having to navigate in menus, just for such a little thing.
It is very convenient to switch it on before going to sleep (relieves eye).
With koreader you can read PDFs, too (kobo's software for PDF reading is very limited).

I'm sure koreader will also be very soon available for new models.

It doesn't to me. Shadows under trees are dark as expected, parts above hit by sunlight are lighter, etc.
