to get the K2 to search, click "menu" then down to "search", type in the term you're looking for, then select one of the options , click. Wiat for it, then click on Harrison's and look through the locations it offers.
The K2 offers the option of searching just a single book rather than the total contents of the reader. I think the single book option is quicker, plus you don't have to pick the book you want out of the list of results.

The easiest way to get to it (IMO) is to start a search while in the text of the book itself. The default search option is to search only that book.

BTW--can someone tell me why so many "H"s are showing up in avatars?

Medical Books on Kindle

Medical Books on the Kindle don't work too well. I suppose text books may be OK but if you are in practice, like me (ER), a PDA is more useful. I use something I got from Dell that runs windows mobile and is branded "Socket." I think I paid like $650 for it but I've tried different Windows Mobile and Palm PDAs and the Socket is the only one that is robust enough never to crash or let me down when I needed an instant drug reference from Epocrates or Sanford Guide, or an algorithm from ER Suite. Kindle info is simply not fast enough for rapid access to such critical information. I know some people are using Epocrates for Iphones and other smart phones, which will some day completely supplant PDAs.

Reading books at leisure (mostly historical and science non-fiction in my case) is much better on the Kindle though! (Previously I read Ereader.com books on my PDA.)

I use my Treo 800w for Epocrates. Being a psychiatrist, the number of times I've had to look up something NOW can be counted on the fingers of my right foot, so I imagine that my texts will be okay on the Kindle. If I had to get answers at the pace of an ER doc, I would not want to be trying to make the Kindle work.
