Relaxing Read
I’m not sure how to label the genre I’m looking for….
Cozy, easy, gentle fiction without being a “cozy mystery” or “Christian fiction”. I’m looking for something similar to Cranford by Gaskell, but not necessarily a classic…but a book that steps you into a little town or village or family and gives you the tour, without a ton of drama but a bit of a plot is good, and more focus on characters than events. For reference, my top 5 books are 5. The Forgotten Garden 4. Christy by Catherine Marshall 3. I Capture the Castle 2. North and South 1. War and Peace Any suggestions are very much welcome. Thank you!! |

You might want to try R.K. Narayan's Malgudi stories, they definitely "step you into a little town or village and give the tour". Very atmospheric

I highly recommend The Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman. It's a very relaxing read.

Haha!! Yes, it’s a little weird. But I took my time with it, a chapter or two a day. It took me about a year to read. I mainly loved it because of the character development. I had never been so completely drawn into a story and place.
