8GB or 32GB?

I finally gave up waiting for a refreshed Forma, went to add a couple to my cart over at:

https://us.kobobooks.com/collections/ereaders

and found they were out of the 32GB version. I saw one thread here where someone wished they had bought the 32GB version instead of the 8GB version. But, then, they had 4 or 5 thousand books on it. I currently only have 642 ebooks (well, Kindle equivalents). Is the 8GB version good enough or should I wait for the 32GB version to come back into stock?

I've had a Reader for about 14 years. I've never exceeded 4GB of storage in all that time. The H2O I have now has 4GB of storage and a card slot. I've never used the card slot.

If I was buying a Forma, I would go for the 8GB version.

I think the people who want lots of space usually are storing either huge amounts of books, or larger files, like comics? If that doesn't apply to you then you may not need the larger storage capacity.

For 642 ebooks 8GB is more than enough.

I have about 2200 ebooks on my 8GB Kobo Libra and it's about half full.

Forma also has native Dropbox support so easy access to ebooks there.

It will take 32.8 years to read 4000 books at the rate of 1 book every 3 days.

It was the same with mp3 players, everyone was clamouring for more space, until someone pointed out "whats the point of having music on your device that you will never listen to".

The point for me is to have the maximum choice and the joy of having a huge library with you. I have about 5,500 books on my Forma (32gb). I chose the 32gb version as my library did not fit on my 8gb Libra, and that does not have Dropbox support.

I don't see the point of having more eBooks then can fit on and 8GB Forma.

Once bitten, twice shy. At least twice now I've bought some computing device and got the lesser amount of ram or storage and ended up regretting it. Now, "just to be on the safe side" I get the larger version (as long as I can afford it).

Since I use Calibre heavily on my desktop pc, which I use daily, I find 8 Gb to be plenty. I load up hundreds of books at a time on my clara (8gb) and it barely puts a dent on it. If I didn't have so much opportunity to load books from my PC I'd probably go for the 32 gb. (I was considering it for a while, but I just got a new PC with a TB of storage, so I think I'm good to go.)

8's plenty for the vast majority of readers of plain text books. The Forma, however, is a good device for manga, and if you have a fair few manga books, you'll need more storage.

A side-point:

What we need is a randomizer to choose what to read next when one has hundreds upon hundreds of books on a device (as I do). A randomizer, I might add, on the DEVICE - rather than having to rely upon calibre's randomizer.

None of my readers have more than 8 gigs. The Voyage is a bit thin at 4 gigs.

I wish we had a randomizer that takes into account series and doesn't give you the earliest book in a series if it decided to pick a book in that series.
