Here's the official press release: https://prod-news.kobo.com/news/take...in-one-ereader

I think for a note taker and something to read manga on without panning or squinting, it's a good option. It's no Sony Digital Paper, but 383 grams is pretty light for a 10.3" e-ink device (lighter than RM2 and the 10.3" Android devices, excluding the 378g BOOX Note2 with Mobius screen).

I'm intrigued. I use a RM2 for note taking and it isn't BAD by any means. But I could see the benefit of morphing together my ereader and a note-taking device instead of having two. I also like the backlight.

But I love the Comfortlight Pro functionality! And I'd miss that greatly.

And I do like reading while taking a bath.

So perhaps I'll skip out on this. But I will say - I like the bold step. Unsure if any of us thought that this would be, really, a big focus on note taking. Pretty cool.

I wonder what happens to the notes (position, size, etc.) when you change the font size in a book?

I would be very tempted by this if it was 300 dpi, but I’m not willing to go below that as I know I would get obsessed with comparing the quality and be dissatisfied. I understand their decision though, I guess, as the lower res screen allows them to keep the price relatively low.

Glad for JSWolf that they have made the cover COMPULSORY.

I forgot to mention that, this also put me off as I love my orange light.

I also like the bold move, I hope it is a success!

I’m still tempted by it, I used to have a DX and really enjoyed reading on the big screen.

ETA: I still do have a DX, but I haven’t found it since we moved house almost five years ago.

I'll probably get this one, ticks all but one of my checkboxes (no SD card slot ):
- Price is competitive (cheaper than the Note Air, more expensive than the lesser P10)
- Kobo & Calibre are old friends, support will probably be excellent
- Kobo's firmware tends to be very solid and long lived in support

If it works as intended I'll keep it., if not, I'll return it within the 30 days window & go for the Onyx.

Nobody has a 300DPI eInk screen larger than 8". 227 PPI is the best you can get at these sizes. It works pretty well and doesn't really bother me moving between the two.

On Boox's stuff they make an attempt to keep your notes in the same place when you change the font size. Doesn't always do a good job so it will be interesting to see how Kobo does.

It's almost like it's a 'test the water' device.

No masses of new features, but one or two. Trying usb-c, the note taking etc.

Kobo while a firm I'm undecided on are not shy about updating firmware and features. If the sales are respectable I'm guessing this could be a really nice device after future updates.

So, that is what you can do with the 2 buttons, erase and highlight.

Am I correct in assuming the Carta 1200 is recessed and not flush?

The real question is why use a stylus when the Forma has a touch screen that does not get full of fingerprints?

That's different. The Forma is not designed to know the difference between a stylus and your finger. If you used your stylus on the Elipsa, it might work to change the page as it's not going to be recognized by the Elipsa as a stylus.

The Elipsa is a much better Reader for ePub then the RM2.

A rather odd request. The only 10.3" Carta 1250 screen I am aware of is the EC103TD1 which is a colour screen.

It depends on the device design. Without an IR touch setup, the screen can be flush or recessed.

The Carta 1250 is not a color. It's a regular Carta screen with a faster refresh rate then the Carta 1200. The color layer is what gives color.

This article shows a device with a Carta 1250 screen and it's not color.
