...spreading it to other anti-vaxxers. That works - it is apparently what both the spreader and the spreadee want. The vaccinated don't have to worry about what the anti-vaxxers do to each other. Or to people who legitimately can't get vaccinated. Guess they're just expendable.

Are you talking about your country that has had kind of a disastrous vaccine rollout? I'm talking about the USA, as I have already said a couple of times. Besides, forcing people to wear masks in the USA or forcing them to get vaccinated isn't really going to help Canada very much.

Or are you talking about the group of people who are not candidates for vaccination even if it were available to them (allergic to an ingredient, or something)? It is unfortunate if you are in this group of people, but the entire world cannot shift gears to protect you from your medical condition. It's like people with peanut allergies. I most certainly wouldn't intentionally open up a bag of nuts anywhere near them. I would do what I could to bring attention to their condition and to protect them. But I wouldn't support banning peanuts worldwide to accommodate them either. Because then the next person would show up with dairy allergies and then we'd have to ban milk and cheese. Then the next would show up with a shellfish allergy and there goes our shrimp and lobster. Next would be the person with grain allergies and we'd have to ban a whole lot of stuff to accommodate them. The point is, you do everything you reasonably can, but you have to stop when it gets unreasonable. And forcing people to wear masks forever, or forcing them to get vaccinated falls into the unreasonable category. Very unfortunate for those that are affected. But that's the way life is - not always fair.

Thanks for the link. That is concerning. It looks like we'll need a booster shot for this (any any other variants that arise that evade the vaccines).

On a bus, train or plane, you are in a smaller space with people and little ventilation.

I've noticed that in the past two days most people here are still wearing masks outside and they are required to wear them in stores (they do).

Disabled people have been told for the ENTIRE DAMNED PANDEMIC that we're expendable for the sake of the economy and the convenience of ableds. What's a few more of our lives just because ableds don't want to wear a piece of fabric for a few months longer?

The local chain of discount grocery/drug stores that I shop at took their mask requirement signs down yesterday. Hubby and I went there today, and didn't notice the sign missing, but saw some of the cashiers without masks, so we asked.

Can't wait for Target, Kohl's, Joann's, and local thrift shops etc. to drop theirs as well. And open the dressing rooms back up. I'd love to actually go shopping and be able to browse a bit.

Agree totally! When the enormity of the pandemic became evident on news reports last year, along with the immediate governmental denials, I remember saying to my partner (over 70 and immunocompromised) 'the government is going to let the seniors and disabled people die to keep the economy going', which is pretty much what happened.
Here in NC, even though daily deaths from covid are still averaging 20 or more, the mask mandate is gone.

Ditto Down Under: Only 834 disability care residents vaccinated so far

Disability and aged care residents and workers are in 1a (top priority) along with aged care residents and workers. As can be seen from the above very few disability care residents have been vaccinated, aged care residents are also behind schedule. The federal government has responsibility for this cohort of 500,000.

The other top priority cohort are the border and quarantine workforces and the health care workers who have direct contact with the SARS-Cov2 virus - so it includes the workers who take swabs, path lab techies etc. The states have responsibility for this cohort of about 200,000. It's almost complete, but in addition to the workers most states have also vaccinated their close contacts (families, housemates, close friends etc).

Fair Dinkum, our federal government couldn't organise a… But it's not for the reasons you and obc give, it's the lack of planning and process design skills.

Give me a break! I've been vaccinated for months now. I have had two covid tests - both negative. I live in Colorado, you live in Nova Scotia (if I remember correctly). That's 2600 miles away (4600 kilometers).

Do you REALLY think that me wearing a mask will make any difference to you what-so-ever? Do you REALLY think that people should ignore the recent study results and CDC advice saying that there is no reason for vaccinated people to wear a mask, and wear one anyway? WHY are you wanting us vaccinated people to ignore this science and medical advice on masks? WHAT additional positive things do you think will come from vaccinated people continuing to wear masks? WHO told you that I (or anyone else) thinks you are expendable? And HOW do you know if I am abled or disabled?

Last year when the pandemic was getting really bad the Lt. Gov of Texas, where I live, proclaimed he was willing to sacrifice the elderly for the sake of the non-elderly. He of course was totally opposed to wearing masks, shutting down public places and businesses, etc.

The problem isn't so much to do with you, a vaccinated person. The problem is, this is being done on an honor system. There are no vaccine passports. Nobody knows who is vaccinated and who isn't. People who choose not to get vaccinated can take their masks off and there is no way for anyone else to know who they are and avoid them.
