I'm still an addict, but I did gain some control after halting my Audible subscription. The books I've picked up since then were filling out my Mom's requested author (Michael Jecks) so I can sell off her paper copies. The replacement ebooks are .99 and $1.99 so inexpensive. It's historical fiction so I include it in my own TBR since I will eventually read it too.

It's more than a bit risible to suggest counting all the books available through the Kobo Plus program. I am counting the ones that I downloaded and read through Kobo Plus. To me, that is a very different matter. The other main difference between Kobo Plus and Kindle Unlimited is that any/all of the books I picked up through Kobo Plus are available to be read on any of my Kobo devices/apps whereas Kindle Unlimited limits a user to 10 books at any one time.

Considering one series I downloaded from Kobo Plus has more than 10 books, it was nice to be able to refer back to the early books when I thought I had noticed a continuity error.

After buying myself a $50 gift card to get the extra bonus points, I've bought 6 books in the last week. That takes me to 33 bought for the year, versus 144 read, so I'm ok with the sudden splurge.

Only two so far in May (A couple of books on my wish list finally dropped to under £1 each.)

There's another purchase coming up (the new Bujold) but I think I'll leave that until I'm going to read it immediately.

A side effect of the pandemic, methinks, but my ebook purchases have plummeted drastically - I can no longer read modern contemporary books or non-fiction (absolutely no interest or attention span). I have instead loaded my Kindles with Delphi Classics compendiums and jump from one author to another.

Perusing the weekend NYTBR used to generate at least 1 impulse buy, but no longer. There's been only one such purchase last month.

Last month I bought too many books. I've purchased four books so far in May which I plan to read this month. Until May of last year I read many more books than I purchased. I blame it on the pandemic that I began checking for book deals last May. I guess I had nothing better to do. No more looking for deals.

I caved. Amazon sold all the ebooks in the James Bond series for under 90 cents each. I picked up the entire series for like $13
