As long as they're not Postscript, and there's nothing wrong with the font, they work perfectly.

This is for fixed-layout epubs, not reflowable epubs. In fixed-layout, there is literally no alternative but to use the same font as in the print book.

Right. You took the words right out of my mouth--I came here to say that to Jon myself (Wolfie).

Jon, it is what it is, to coin a phrase. For FXL, they (effectively) have zero choice.

Yes, dear, you've stopped paying attention. The ebooks are read in a browser-based environment, not downloaded and they have all sorts of goodies that require X/Y coordinatoes and FXL. Like "...read-aloud narration and highlighting, interactive popups, etc..."

See? So, FXL. Jon, you know me, I fight the good fight too, but sometimes, we have to let folks do their own thang. Right? Right.

Yes, you are correct. It's time to give up and eave the eBook as fixed layout. But at least the OP's question can be solved using Sigil.

For pure information? No. For highly designed books aimed at middle school and younger? Yes.

Hallmark Story Book PKA Font

Hello, new user here.

This thread about the StoryBook font got me curious and went hunting. It is actually exclusive only to Hallmark, made in 1999. I found a book with the font PDMNCN+StoryBookOneMediumPKA. The copyright info in the file says Copyright (c) Hallmark Cards, Inc, 1999.

Still have no idea what the prefix letters are.

However, my hyperfixation to find the font itself led me here: Hallmark Fonts Info

As you can see, they made a ton of fonts, including the Story Book font. It does not exist as a regular font download. It is only embedded in e-media (e-cards and e-books) and can only be extracted from those.

Just wanted to post this to lay to rest the curiosity of it.

Yes, I've corresponded with Luc about it.

There are myriad Storybook fonts. I finally gave up--as Hallmark had freely distributed it in font packages it gave away, in the 2000's and no longer had a copy of the font in its archives (they act like they don't even have archives--one of the rudest companies I've ever tried to deal with) and had a version built for me. :-)
